Here's a cute card I made using one of Tiffany's Ice Cream Tree images.

As you can see, I printed the same image on 2 different designer papers for a whimsical ice cream cone. I then shaded with W1-3 Copics for a bit more dimension. These were layered and popped up for dimension. The ribbon is supposed to simulate the pretty package, and the sentiment was computer generated. Going Through Withdrawal!

Oh My! Haven't made a card in weeks. I use card-making and scrabbooking as a release or soother, so can you image my stress level of late when I haven't had the chance to take it down a notch? Well, this semester of Nursing School is over, so on to the next bit ... see if I can't manage graduating college at the same time my darling daughter graduates from High School. It's a race, and it's ON!

Had a chance this weekend to do some coloring, so made up some cards using some of Tiffany Doodles' new designs, but forgot I can't post them until the release date. In the meantime, head over to Tiffany's to see her latest releases, and keep an eye open here to find out when the new lovlies come out!

Leaf Breast Cancer Behind - WT346 at SplitcoastStampers challenge

This month over at SplitcoastStampers, the http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/ways-use-f46/"> Ways to Use it Challenges are geared around October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so we're encouraged to use the color pink in our projects. This week, the challenge is to use leaves.

I took this digital image from Tiffany Doodles' Fall is Here set and digitally recolored them in various shades of pink before randomly scattering them around the edge of the 4x6 frame. I also used one of Tiffany's sentiments from the Lipstick set (found under the Fashion line.) Once the card was all put together, I added some diamond Stickles to the leaf veins for some sparkle. I love, love, love the way this turned out ... and I'm not normally fond of all pink.

Here's yet another beauty from Tammy over at A Day For Daisies. This is also from her October Club Kit which can be found here.

I chose the image of the Teacher and colored her and her student with Copics. I sponged a cloudy sky in afterwards.

I did a little distressing, a little stitching, layered the labels with a Spellbinders die and an SU label punch, added some pearls and called it a day.

Love these images ... coloring them always puts me in a mellow place. Hope you like this card and give A Day for Daisies a chance if you haven't already.

Lady in Red

Love this digital image from A Day For Daisies, called Red Lady.

I colored her with Copics then added some clear glitter gel/glossy accent dots to the jewels in her hair and earring. I then used the beaded oval nestability to die cut her and then embossed it. Sponged over before removing it from the die with some worn lipstick from Tim Holtz. I stitched around the designer paper before adding the trim and grosgrain ribbon. Finished it off with an SU sentiment stamped in rose red, punched with a label punch & layered on rose red punched mat and some strategically placed pearls. The image panel is popped up for dimension, as is the sentiment panel.

New release over at Tiffany Doodles today

Today over at Tiffany Doodles, there's 2 new releases - Snow Cabin and Christmas Sentiments.

I used the Christmas sentiments on this first card (along with the Christmas Trees from last year.) I put the sentiment inside the Label 10 before printing.

I digitally colored the base of the tree and then shadowed with some W3/5 before adding Stickles for the ornaments. The sentiment panel is popped up for dimension and then I finished it off with a stitched red ribbon threaded through the slots.

Since I was thinking holidays, my next card uses the Christmas Postcard Set, which I printed out on kraft. The tree in the corner barely showed up on the kraft, so I smudged a little green chalk to bring it out. All of the stamps/greetings were popped up for dimension after sponging the edges & distressing for an aged look. That mat is actually a hunter green, no matter how light I got, I couldn't bring that out. I finished this one with some twine.

Boo To You! and some others

Okay, I'm not one to give out Halloween cards, but these images were just too cute to pass up. Tiffany Doodles has a ton of digital images that you're sure to fall in love with!

This first card uses the Curly Tree image that I filled in with black before printing. The sentiment is from the new Scary Words. I used a circle mask to color the sky with a brayer and NQN ink then used the reverse mask to sponge in the moon. The sentiment panel was colored with prismacolored pencils/gamsol. Finished with some digital paper from Bearly Mine Designs and some black stitched ribbon.

I had loads of fun for my second card. This image is also from Tiffany Doodles' Scary Words set. Ever have those candy corn? I'm totally addicted to them until I've had a couple of handfuls and then I'm miserable (at least until the next time they're offered). I used my Copics to give this "BOO" a candy corn appearance before cutting the word out. Once again, I picked some digital paper from Bearly Mine designs and then added a black flourish (Tim Holtz) and trim (Spellbinders) and popped the BOO up for dimension.

Had fun making these, but not sure where they're going to end up.

Still working on some Thank You's

So many thank you's to get out for friends of my mother in law. She always appreciated the cards I make, so I thought it'd be a nicer touch to send some cards out that meant something to her.

This first one is made with a digital image from Tiffany Doodles , Forsythia & Pussywillows. Very little copic coloring and some SU Blueberry crisp papers and a computer generated sentiment and it was done.

This next one is made from a digital image from a new image from A Day for Daisies' October Club Kit entitled Letter Home. I colored her with Copics before cutting her out and popping up for dimension. I used some digital paper from Bearly Mine Designs and then doodled around the edges (for the A Day For Daisies Challenge #29 - Add doodles.) This same paper was used as a background for a slide show I made with photographs of my mother in law from her birth on up to show at the memorial last week. She was a quilter and loved blue, so I thought it was fitting. I punched a border and used a Tim Holtz flourish in NQN as well as an oval mat for the sentiment (which was double popped up.) Finished with an ivory grosgrain ribbon.

This next Thank You was made using a digital image from Lilyboo of Cuddly Buddly called Pretty Pots. This was colored with Copics and then cut out & popped up on the double mat of pumpkin/garden green (with some doodles around the perimeter.) The sentiment is computer generated. Background paper is from Basic Grey digital. The sentiment here was also double popped up for more dimension.

Ways to Use It Challenge 345 - Faux Tiles

Back in the saddle again ... Feel like I haven't done a whole lot of stamping lately with my mother in law being ill and all the arrangements to make after the fact.

This week's Ways to Use It challenge is to make a card using ANY kind of Faux Tile technique. This is probably one of my favorite methods of creating a Faux Tile card. I've linked up a Tutorial on Faux Tile I did last June that uses a brass stencil, versamark and clear embossing powder if you'd like to check it out. In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, we were also challenged to use pink in our projects.

I'm in need of several Thank You's, and I kept this one a bit subdued in color (although my grout lines do look a bit bright.)

I stamped the image from Penny Black in Rose Red onto white cardstock first. Then I put the brass stencil over the top and sponged a bit of Antique Linen next to the lines to give them a bit of a 3-D look before stamping overall with Versamark. I then took the brass stencil off and applied some clear embossing powder (3 layers). Once it was thoroughly dry, I sponged some rose red in the 'grout lines'. Mats are soft suede and the background paper is from Basic Grey.

I added a soft pink ribbon for the bow around the tiles, stamped the sentiment in rose red (Hero Arts I think) and then sponged the edge once I oval-punched it.

Hello Doily

Finally inking up my newest Stampin Up purchase, Hello Doily. Have so many of these to do, think this looks pretty good for a basically simple set up.

Stamped the Thank You then masked an oval (cut from Spellbinders long oval) and sponged around the edge. I then stamped the Hello Doily in Not quite navy before sponging the edges. Mat is not quite navy with the base and image panel in baja blue. Finished it off with a simple ivory bow.

Tribute to a wonderful Mother

My mother in law has been very ill and just passed away yesterday.

Very sad times for the whole family. She will truly be missed.

A Day for Daisies October Club Kit

Wow, Tammy from A Day For Daisies digital images gave us another stupendous choice in the Club Kit for the month of October. I picked this image, Tree of Mine, to make a card with this week.

She was colored with Copics and then I added some sponged clouds in the background. I used Celery and Marina Mist designer papers and card stock for the mats and background. I used a Sizzix flourish die and then centered it with a blue glitter gel pen for a little bit of bling. Finished it off with a pretty striped celery colored ribbon.

I chose this pumpkin from Robyn's stash and colored him with Copics.

I used some digital designer paper from Bearly Mine Designs for the background. After coloring the pumpkin, I cut him out and popped him up for dimension. The sentiment is computer generated with "A Charming Font". Finished off with black mat and ribbon before adding to the card base of Dusty Durango.

LOVE this Tiffany Doodles set

Here's another new release from Tiffany Doodles called Fall Is Here.

I recolored the outlined images of the leaves in various fall shades and randomly collaged them on a sheet of white cardstock. After printing, I took some chalks and sponged some color to match the leaf color inside. I then trimmed down the sheet and sponged the outer edge with some Tango Tangerine before matting on suede then the tango base.

For the image - I took the pumpkin and resized so I had 3 pumpkings - one is flipped - and colored them with Copics before cutting out and popping up for dimension. The sentiment is from Hero Arts, oval punched and matted on a label of suede. I added some chocolate Stickles and popped the sentiment panel up for dimension over the fall colored striped ribbon.

Fabulous New Digi's from Tiffany Doodles

Some more amazing images from Tiffany Doodles. You have to check out her store for what's new!

I thought it was time to get started on my holiday cards, so I picked this Woodland Tree 2 to color with Copics. For the ornaments, I used various tints of Stickles. The background clouds were sponged with some Bashful Blue. I used Kiwi Kiss, Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler with some digital red gingham paper. The sentiment is from Hero Arts that I circle punched & matted with a cherry scalloped circle before tweaking with some green Stickles.

Finishing touches include some crocheted trim and cherry red ribbon.

How's About a Bookmark!

This week's Ways to Use It challenge over at SplitcoastStampers is to use BOOKMARKS.

Reading is one of my many favorite pastimes. I think I probably have 4-5 books that I'm in the middle of as we speak. And that's not counting Nursing School books. The challenge today was to create a bookmark that could stand alone, either as a complete project or one that could be detached.

I picked this sweet image from A Day For Daisies' September Club Kit called Peace and Quiet. I've had a slamming week, what with school stuff and a mini-emergency in the family, so this little sunflower is just where I want to be sitting myself right about now.

I colored Peace & Quiet with Copics and created a bookmark before creating the pocket card to hold the bookmark. Colors are pear pizazz and blush with some Basic Grey designer papers. Finishing touches are the pretty pink ribbon and pearl brads. The sentiment was computer generated.

I also entered this in the Anything Goes challenge - basically, anything goes ...

Best Beet Bunny

This adorable bunny is from A Day for Daisies' September Club Kit, called 5 Beets for Bunny.

I colored him with Copics before sponging on the sky. A few tweaks with the white gel pen and I was done. I tried to keep the mats as close to the beet color as possible. The sentiment is from Hero Arts, stamped with cherry cobbler and punched with oval/scalloped oval cherry. I sponged the edges with a little antique linen. Designer paper is from Basic Grey.

Ways to Use it Challenge - Lunch Sack

Today over at SplitcoastStampers'
Ways to Use It, the challenge was carried along in the Back to School theme by using a Lunch sack.

This was a fun challenge! Love my Kraft/Crumb Cake, but haven't thought to use a lunch sack on one of my cards.

To start off, I printed the digital birthday cake from Tiffany Doodles and then colored it with Copics. I added some diamond Stickles to the candle stripes and some glossy accents to the flames with some white gel pen accents. I wanted this image a little on the brighter side than what follows. I stamped a sentiment from Hero Arts in the corner and then sponged the edge with Vintage photo before matting on chocolate. Since this insert is separate, I put a layer of lighter cardstock on the back for additional messaging.

Now for the base ... I took chocolate, kraft and an unknown dp (polka dot) and wrapped with some brown Baker's twine. I trimmed the top of a lunch sack to fit at an angle and then stamped all over in espresso with a Hero Arts candle stamp very similar to the Tiffany Doodles' cake candles. I colored the flames with a bright yellow colored pencil and the stripes with a gold Spica pen for a subtle sparkle. This was sponged around the edge as well, before matting on the chocolate layer. I then tucked this underneath the twine.

A Day for Daisies - Another September Club Kit image

Have another wonderful image from A Day For Daisies' September Club Kit that I used for my latest card.

This image is New Shoes. I colored this little darling with Copics and then added some diamond Stickles for her wings and fruit punch Stickles for the flower centers, scallops and faux brads. The designer paper I got from the Dollar Store in a little inexpensive kit, and love it ... I'm a quilter as well, so love all things related to quilting too. I matted the quilted paper on marina mist and wrapped some pink Baker's twine before adding a bow. The mats and card base are pretty in pink.

Stamps R Us challenge by The Paper Shelter

This week over at Stamps R Us, we're helping to celebrate Operation Write Home's birthday (on September 12th) and are being sponsored by a wonderful digital stamp company, The Paper Shelter.

I picked this cute little fella - reminds me of a Leprecaun (sp?), but I wanted this guy in a purple outfit. I colored him with Copics (used some plain old Staples cardstock). The designer paper is from Paper Trey's GuideLines pack. I punched out a Hero Arts sentiment with oval/scalloped oval mat, added a knotted ribbon (also Paper Trey) and some purple rhinestones and called it a day. I'm really happy with the way he turned out.

A Day For Daisies new September Club Kit image

Here's a wonderful image from A Day for Daisies called Little Darling. It's a digital image and can be found at A Day For Daisies in the CLUB section. Each month a new set is released - loads of images each month, and well worth the club fee.

I colored this image, printed on Cryogen irridescent white, in with Copics before free-hand cutting it out and layering it on top of a scalloped mat of pool party from Stampin Up. The base and/or some of the mats are cardstock from Stampin Up: Pool party and Blush. The designer paper is from Basic Grey (shocker!). I popped up the image for dimension and then double dimensionalized (word??) the sentiment after using punches for the word/mat. Finished it all off with some graduated pearls and a pretty pink bow.

Black Board Happenings over at SplitcoastStampers

Today's http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/ways-use-f46/>Ways to Use It challenge continues with the Back to School theme ... This week we're challenging you to create a card using a BLACKBOARD effect.

I used the http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/blackmagic/>Black Magic techniquc that can be found here at SplitcoastStampers' Resource Center. To me, this looks so much like colored chalk on the chalkboard.

I used the Pennant Parade and So Happy For You sets from Stampin Up to create my card. I stamped the pennants in white craft ink and then colored with some pale colored pencils and then drew a clothesline with white gel pen. The card base is black with red checkered background. I added some triangles cut from some SU designer paper, matted on black. I wanted the yellow to pop a bit more, so I added some yellow Stickles. Finally, I stamped the sentiment on white and matted on a black frame from Nestabilities.

Hope you give this one a try - It's even nicer when you used solid floral images to color - but I wanted something "teacher-esque" for this, so I tried to make it look like a chalkboard with a back to school motif.

SplitcoastStampers' Ways to Use it WT339

This week over at SplitcoastStampers' Ways to Use it Challenge, we're continuing on our Back to School theme - this week the challenge is to use Staples.

My friend just took her son out to Georgetown for his first year at college and she asked me to make a handful of cards that she could write to him. Being a boy - I pulled out a masculine digital image from Tiffany Doodles and colored him with Copics. I computer generated the sentiment - wanted this to be kind of clean since this guy's 18 & wouldn't appreciate too many layers or embellishments. I sponged the edge with Tim Holtz Tea Dye and matted on garden green. The background paper is ferns & such, matted on garden green also. I took some jute and wrapped it around the background layer and then stapled it into place. Finished off with a few sprigs of a punch from Martha Stewart before adding it to the chocolate base.

I have to say, I'm liking the staples, will have to run out and get some colored ones now.

Tiffany Doodles Challenge - Stitching

This month's challenge over at Tiffany Doodles, is to incorporate STITCHING to your project. LOVE my sewing machine and hate having to run up 2 flights to use the good one, so I bought a smaller one for the basement - Alas, it's still in the box - need to set up a 'station' before I'm in business.

In the meantime, I used hand stitching for both of these samples.

For my first one - I made a card for a Teacher Appreciation since school just started. I colored this image with Copics and used my blender pen (chisel tip) to lift off some color to give the school house and sidewalk a feeling of bricks/stones. I added some stenciled clouds and some Glossy Accents to the windows before adding the stitching to the image panel as well as the background panel. Tried to keep the mats primary for the back to school feel.

For my second card, I added some glossy accents to the lipstick, sponged around the edges with Pretty in Pink and added an arch of handstitching. Papers are from Stampin Up. I added a bit of diamond Stickles to the tips of the flowers to bring a little bling from the papers into the flowers. Have to admit, out of the 2, this one is my favorite.

Ways to Use it Challenge WT338 & More!

If you've just arrived from Hannah's wonderful blog, then you are in the right place! This month, over at SplitcoastStampers' Ways to Use it Challenge, we're using the Back to School Theme. Michelle challenged us this week by asking us to use PAINT.

Not only is this a NEW Ways to Use It challenge week - IT'S A BLOG HOP as well!!!! All of our Ways to Use It hostesses have a made a card with their challenge in mind. My turn at the challenge isn't until September 29th, but if you can guess what the subject of my challenge is from looking at the below card, your card will be featured in the challenge post for that week. If correct, you will be contacted as to the subject matter the week before the challenge so you, too, can create a card using that theme. In order to be eligible, you'll need to be the first person who guesses right by commenting here in my post.

I embossed a piece of kraft/crumb cake cardstock and then painted over the raised surfaces rather sloppily to simulate leather using some acrylic shimmery brown paint. My sentiment was inspired by a class I recently took for watercoloring. While the card doesn't include any watercoloring, I was inspired by the saying from the class.

Use packaging found around the house from something you got in the mail

Just about anything that's been used before

I chose to take this birthday card I received from Juanita over at SplitcoastStampers, aka Schmoopie, and recycle it. I liked that it was a very CAS card so I had a lot of room to play.

I stamped over the cameo card base with some cameo ink and a flourish from Stampin Up all over. I then added this sparkly flourish I got recently which goes with the stamped flourishes. The image is mine from The Stamping Boutique that I colored with Copics. I added some clear glitter gel pen to the curly-Q's and some glossy accents to the tags before matting on cherry cobbler. I also matted the recycled sentiment onto the cherry. The card was small to start, so I put it on a single sheet base of cobbler to make it an A2 size.

Great challenge, Hannah - Loved this one.

Stamps R Us - Anything Goes

Today over at Stamps R Us, the challenge for the next fortnight is

ANYTHING GOES

I chose this digital image from A Day For Daisies.

Because I wanted the image larger, the card measures 4x6.

I colored this Sunflower Girl with Copics after printing out on Cryogen irridescent paper. Mats are Tangerine Tango and the card base is daffodil. The designer paper is from a Basic Grey paper pack.

I finished it off with a sentiment from Hero Arts die cut with a nesties beaded circle and embossed/sponged it with antique linen. The image panel and sentiment panel are popped up for dimension and finally, added a daffodil grosgrain knotted ribbon and some orange Stickles.

I actually love, love, love how this turned out - was such a joy to color.

Little bit of fun - for me

Having some fun coloring and putting together these cards, for no particular reason ...

This first one is a digital image from The Stamping Boutique colored with Copics. I kept it turquoisy and yellow and sponged the clouds with distressed inks and a cloud template, then sponged the edges before matting on taken with teal. I used a border punch for the bottom of the white panel and then matted on teal again before dotting with some yellow Stickles.

This second card is a digital image from A Day for Daisies. Such a sweet image - it was colored with Copics. I also added some clouds with tumbled glass distressed ink and used my Creative Memories circle cutting system to help with the arch cut on this. Matted with some Suede before popping up on dimensionals. The background is Stampin Up designer paper w/sparkles matted on pretty in pink. Added a couple of pearls to finish it off.

This third card uses a digital image from Emerald Faeries - What I wouldn't give to be able to sail off on a dandylion. She was colored with Copics as well. I used my Creative Memories oval cutting system and left the dandelion 'out of the box' and then added some sponged clouds with bashful blue. The background is digital paper from Bearly Mine Designs. Mats are elegant eggplant. I then added a Hero Arts sentiment punched with circle punches, some lavendar Stickles and a piece of lace trim with an eggplant grosgrain ribbon. Finished off with a paper rose with the same colors.

Hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed putting them together.

A Day for Daisies - from July's Club Kit

Another lovely image from A Day For Daisies, this time from their July Club Kit, Bundle of Fairy Love with accompanying sentiment.

First, for the background, I took some digital designer paper purchased from Scrap Girls and layered the sentiment to match the image on top and then sponged the edges with Marina Mist. I added a border punched on each side from white with a marina mist grosgrain ribbon down the center. This is matted on marina mist then the pale plum card base.

The image panel was colored with Copics. I added some diamond Stickles to the wings and sponged some clouds with Bashful Blue before matting on some more pale plum and finished with some distressed rose Stickles at 3 of the corners.

The inside of the card is the same digital designer paper with the same sentiment framed.

I'm submitting this to the Anything Goes challenge - this fortnight it's Birthday/Celebration - I'm going for 'birth' day for a new mom here.

I'm proud of the way this turned out - hope you like it as well.

A Day For Daisies

This wonderful fairy comes from A Day For Daisies' June Club kit, entitled "Fairy Godmother Blossom". I colored her with Copics and added some Stickles to outline her wings as well as some glossy accents to the center of the flowers. I added some faux stitching to the image panel before matting on rose.

The background is some dp from a Basic Grey paper pack that I faux stitched before running through Stampin Up's square lattice embossing folder and then sponged with some rose red all over to create more texture. The flourishes were cut from rose red as well. The cross strip is from the same Basic Grey paper pack, matted on rose red.

Today's Ways to Use It challenge over at SplitcoastStampers is to use Versamark.

I stamped this flower all over the Kraft paper in Versamark then sponged in some chalks in green, bright pink and purple. The sentiment is from Stampin Up, stamped in eggplant. After matting the background on plum, added a dusky purple ribbon and then some diamond and purple Stickles for the flower's stamens.

Ways To Use It Challenge - HEAT

Today over at SplitcoastStampers' Ways to Use It Challenge, HEAT is the topic.

We could use either an image that reflected heat such as a candle, fireplace, sunset, summer ... or a technique using heat such as heat embossing, wax/crayon resist, etc. The sky's the limit as long as heat played a part.

I chose to use heat embossing. I took a strip of Kraft and ran it through a Cuttlebug embossing folder before applying Versamark to the raised design and clear embossing it. I then sponged the edgtes with some Pacific Point.

The image is a digital image from Tiffany Doodles that I printed onto Kraft and colored with Copics. I added a dot of Glossy Accents to his eye and some Distressed Stickles for faux brads. Cardstocks used include Kraft, Navy and Pacific Point, while the designer paper is from Stampin Up's Blueberry Crisp paper pack. I finished it off with an ivory grosgrain ribbon knotted in the corner.

Tiffany Doodles releases 4 new Sea Life digital sets

You'll love these new digital sets from Tiffany Doodles: Seahorse, Dolphin, Pelican and Sea Turtle. All of them come with sentiments as well.

I tried my hand at the first three ... Turtles seem to laugh at me when I sit down to color them, but I WILL prevail (some day, snicker).

My first card is Tiffany's dolphin. I printed him on same piece as the sentiment and colored him with Copics. I started with a B91 layer to give it that hint of blue before shading with the C's. I added a spot of glossy accents for his eye before cutting him 'out of the box', matting on navy and popping up on dimensions. The background is digital paper. The waves are created with the Creative Memories wavy cutting board. I took some green and blue prisma colored pencils to create the swirls and smudged them up with some Gamsol before tracing over them with clear glitter gel pen ... difficult to see in the photo, but adds just that right amount of sparkle. A Marina Mist ribbon finished it off.

My second card is the Seahorse image - I added a second smaller image and then colored them with Copics. Glossy accents dots their eyes. The background paper is from unknown source. I used a QuicKutz corner flourish and cut pacific corners to match the mat and corner rounded the image panel. I added some diamond Stickles to the flower and leaves. The sentiment is from the seahorse set and I rounded the top corners. Finally, took a piece of white and border punched both sides before adding some Marina Mist ribbon. I wanted to bring some of the seahorse color, so matted base with some tango.

For my third card, I used the pelican and flipped it before coloring with Copics. He, too, got his eyes glazed over. I used the same water paper as the second card, but this time, I took diamond Stickles and traced over some of the swirls to give it a bit of sparkle before wrapping some blue bakers twine. The sentiment is from the Pelican set, all matted on Pacific Point. I finished the image panel with a slot punch and a knot of Marina Mist ribbon.

SplitcoastStampers Ways To Use It Challenge - WT333

Today over at SplitcoastStampers' Ways To Use It, the challenge is:

ALTERED RIBBON

Chose your favorite ribbon, twill, seam binding - ANYTHING that comes from the ribbon section of your LSS or craft store (not twine, tho) ... and ALTER it - You can take great liberty with this - either dye it, stamp it, distress it ... color it with Copics (or equivalent), airbrush it - The sky's the limit.

I chose to dye this seam binding from Stampin Up by dragging the ribbon over my Pacific Point ink pad until it was fully saturated. (You don't want to see my hands - although at least it's not like the time I did the same thing with Rose Red ink ... looked like I murdered someone.) I still haven't gotten it through my thick skull, however, to use the dollar cheapie plastic gloves when I'm doing this - Go Figure. Anyway, after saturating it with the Pacific Point ink pad, I set it aside to dry overnight to avoid transfer where I didn't want it. I put a piece of sticky tape (red stuff, lol) and pleated the ribbon down a strip of coordinating Blueberry Crisp designer paper from Stampin Up before matting on crumb cake.

The image is a digital bluebird from Tiffany Doodles that I printed onto crumb cake and then colored with Copics. I love the way these Copics seem to watercolor the absorbent crumb cake. Trick is lighter touch - you don't want to saturate the paper or it will bleed. I added some glossy accents to his eye and some highlights with white gel pen before matting onto Navy. The sentiment is unknown stamped in Pacific point & punched with oval before matting onto Navy scalloped oval & popped up for dimension. I finished with a pretty corner flourish in Navy from QuicKutz.

This is my sample for the Birthday Celebration Blog Hop, using one of Whimsie Doodles images, Pig-Kini. As soon as I saw this, the song "She Wore an Itsy Bitsy, Teeny Weeny, Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" kept playing over & over in my head. I colored her with Copics then added some glossy accents to the polks dots and her snout. I skewed the image that was die cut using one of the Spellbinders Label dies then stenciling inside the frame for a layered look. The background papers are digital, matted on either Tango or Daffodil. The sentiment is computer generated. I thought it was kind of funny to "X" off the "itsy bitsy, teeny weeny" part of it. I finished with some pretty yellow grosgrain ribbon with orange stitching. Hope you like it!

Tiffany Doodles New Release - Bloom Tree

Another beautiful digital image being released today over at Tiffany Doodles is this Bloom Tree.

I printed this onto Cryogen irridescent and colored with Copics. I sponged the sky with Bashful to create some clouds. My papers are from Basic Grey's Hello Luscious paper pack with Stampin Up's pretty in pink and garden green.

I used the pretty in pink to border punch both sides of this vertical strip before placing a thin strip of the background paper in the middle (but you can barely see it behind the image panel.) Finished off with a pretty pink satin ribbon and 3 pik pearls.

Ways to Use It Challenge WT332 at SplitcoastStampers

Today, Hannah challenged us to with Heavy Metal. Check out SplitcoastStampers to see what everyone else came up with ...

I've had this image printed for several weeks, if not months, sitting in the front to be colored, but keep moving it. When I heard "Heavy Metal" ... thought of a manly card - then I forced myself to color this one up. The thing is, the dirtier the better with this 4x4 digital image from Tiffany Doodles.

I didn't want to go with the standard brads or whatnot, so I found a piece of screening in the garage and decided that'd be the way to go. I seriously distressed the layers then sponged the edges with Tim Holtz Tea Dye. The sentiment is computer generated.

I'm not often found creating a masculine card, but I'm quite pleased with the way this one turned out. What do you think?

The Stamping Boutique's Challenge #11 - Cool Colors

For the next fortnight, The Stamping Boutique has a challenge up to create a project using ONLY cool colors. If you don't remember from art classes what's 'cool' (I say purple and green combo, but I think I'm using the word 'cool' differently) ... Here's a color wheel to help you out ...

(Hey wait a sec - My 'cool' colors fit into the cool side of the color wheel!)

I chose this Journal Cynthia and colored her with Copics with purple and blue hues. The papers are digital papers from Bearly Mine Designs. I can't believe how hard it is to find some purple designer paper in the stores - what's up with that?!

I used clear glitter gel pen, Purple Stickles and some irridescent shimmer paint for the clouds. I tried 6 different pics and just couldn't get it to show up - trust me - they shimmer with a little bit of blue hue to them. I tied some eggplant grosgrain ribbon to 2 of the corners. The image panel was cut with my Creative Memories oval system & then "out of the box" for the clouds.

Color Me Creative challenge

This was a tough one ... Color Me Creative has put forth the challenge to use our favorite Copic skill/technique this month. I love to feather, air brush, experiment with hair colors, well, just about everything. One of my new favorites tho is to color with my Copics onto Kraft. I like using the softer colors here because they blend so well - trick is you have to have a much lighter touch than with the Cryogen or X-press blend it papers.

I chose this digital image from Tiffany Doodles entitled 'Pear Blossom' and printed it onto kraft before coloring with Copics. My papers were Stamping Up (cherry cobbler and daffodile) as well as Basic Grey (Hello Lucious paper pak). I used the cherry for a flourish and a border punch for the daffodil strip which I tied a red ribbon around. Finished off with a few white gel pen flicks and some distressed red Stickles.

Don't know why - I certainly don't miss them, lol - but the puzzle that came to my mind immediately was those tiled puzzles where there's one piece missing and you have to slide them around until you get the picture right.

I used the Poppies digital image from The Stamping Boutique and colored it with Copics before cutting it into 1-inch pieces, leaving one out. I sponged the edges with some Tim Holtz Antique Linen to give it a bit of a 3D effect before matting onto some cherry cobbler.

Cardstock used was certainly celery, cherry cobbler and garden green with some Basic Grey designer papers. The mat for the sentiment was cut from this same designer paper. Finished with a gold trimmed ribbon and some gold stickles.

Splitcoast Featured Stamper TeriStampsAlot

Today, Teri Anderson was the featured stamper over at SplitcoastStampers. She's got loads of cute, clean cards in her gallery. I chose these two to be inspired by:

Aren't these cute? I love the bright whimsical papers she chooses. For my card, I chose a digital image from Some Odd Girl, Big Pressie Tia, and colored her with Copics. I cut out the present part and stacked some papers behind. I carried these same papers into the background where I stacked strips again. I added the scalloped white panel to keep it crisp. Do you know how hard it was for me NOT to sponge around the edge of this Hero Arts sentiment to keep the image looking crisp? (very!)

Inspiration Challenge at SplitcoastStampers

Today's challenge over at SplitcoastStampers Insipration Challenge came from

Maggie Austin Cake

Holy cow - some absolutely gorgeous cakes she's done. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of time and patience it takes. I couldn't figure out how to capture the photos for the 2 cakes I chose to be inspired by, but they're the Lavendar Anemones and the Purple and Yellow Pansies cakes.

I took this image from A Day for Daisies, "Pansy Fairy", and colored her with Copics. I added a thin ribbon of diamond Stickles to the perimeter of her wings to keep it light and soft. I then sponged some clouds for the background. I used my Creative Memories circle cutting system to cut an arch out of the image & mat.

The background papers are digital from Two Peas in a Bucket's "Dreams 'n Hopes" paper set. I stamped an additional flourish in garden green on the green paper before matting on garden green. Finished off with a Hero Arts Sentiment, circle punched, and popped some pearls on the open pansies and the sentiment then a pretty purple bow.

SplitcoastStampers' Free 4 All Friday challenge - Twine

Today's challenge over at SplitcoastStampers' Free 4 All Friday is to use twine on our projects.

Here I have a digital image from The Stamping Boutique called Sunflower Frame that I colored with Copics. The background is a piece of Basic Grey designer paper that was matted onto garden green then run through the Checkerboard embossing folder. I then sponged the raised areas with Tim Holtz' tea dye to bring out the embossing. On this is a square of newsprint designer paper with distressed edges and sponging (tea dye, again), set at a diagonal.

For my twine layer, I wrapped chocolate Bakers twine crossways then wove it vertically.
I keep accumulating twine - just need to use it more.

WT331 Crazy Collage

Today's Ways to Use it challenge over at SplitcoastStampers is to create a card with a collage.

Not everyone knows how to do one, so here's a very rudimentary description:

1. Normally, first I stamp 2-3 script, typed, newsprint images randomly on a diagonal. I try to cover all the background without overlapping the script images.

2. Next, I'll stampe 2-3 images of silhouette or sketchy type images like single flowers or butterflies, insects, etc. Not alot, but I do like odd numbrs. Sometimes I'll stamp these images in same color as script, sometimes I'll add another color. You can make it as colorful as you like - the skies the limit.

Basically that's all there is to it. I like the old-world/vintage feel it gives.

For my card, I did exactly what I said above, only this time I stamped a flower & clear embossed it before anything else.

Kraft, chocolate and mellow moss were my colors of choice for today. I love my Copics, but I really enjoy making cards with my stamps & stamp pads, too. I'm happy with the way this one turned out. Hope the above hints helped you out.

I chose this Picket Fence Tulips image and colored it with Copics. After sponging the sky, I spritzed it with some Shimmer Mist & looks just like the Cryogen irridescent paper, just enough sparkle but not overkill.

I used some papers from October Afternoon (look out Basic Grey, they're catching up on my DP list, lol), some navy and ruby red. I added a strip punched from my new EK border punch as well.

Lexi's Creations Challenge - Beach themed

Today over at Lexi's Creations blog, she's got a Beach themed challenge going, and guess who is sponsoring? That's RIGHT, The Stamping Boutique.

I've been doing a few beach cards lately, so I took this challenge from the Beach-goers view - what does he see when he looks out to sea? Why, a sailboat, of course!

I doubled the waves for a wider sea and colored them with Copics then sponged the sky with broken china for clouds. The sentiment and sailboat were colored separately and cut out before popping up on dimensionals. I cut the top of a stretch of waves so I could slip the sailboat behind the waves. I added some clear glitter gel pen, white gel pen and some glossy accents here 'n there. Mats are turquoise and navy, as is the grosgrain ribbon and flourishes added.

Having some fun with Tiffany Doodles

Just some "for fun" cards I made today - both with digital images from Tiffany Doodles.

This first one is obviously an owl, lol, that I colored with Copics then sponged the cloud background using Broken China. I don't know the designer papers, they came with a Unity order, probably from last year, but I like them. The sentiments are computer generated.

My second card has been a bit of a nuisance for me ... I colored this a couple of months ago and just couldn't come up with anything. Loved the coloring on it, but had trouble with my High Hopes sentiment: Guess What? ... Chicken Butt ... So, after many hours (believe me!) of thinking about this, I finally just said what the heck. Just cuz the image is a photosketch, doesn't mean I can't have a laugh. So, went in search of something besides my chicken butt slogan, lol. Found this a bit humorous, so went with it ...

Hope you like them both ... Think either one of them can double for male or female.

Inspiration Challenge at SCS - Posh Phishies

Today's Inspiration challenge at SplitcoastStampers takes place at Posh Vintage online. I picked this Italian Riviera dress with the red & white stripes & knew I immmediately wanted to use this flotation & fishies image from The Stamping Boutique.

I colored the images with Copics and used my xacto to cut out the flotation/fish before popping up for dimension on this water designer paper. I double popped the larger fish for even more dimension. Just their eyes were coated with glossy accents (they're not 'googly eyes', lol). I finished with some red stitched ribbon and used Pacific Point and Cherry Cobbler as mats.

New Releases at Tiffany Doodles - 3D heart and Sweet Butterfly

Today, Tiffany's released the following 2 images - SO very sweet.

This first one is the Sweet Butterfly set. As you can see, there are 3 pieces, the 2 butterflies and the sentiment. Until July 15th, you can get this image at 10% off regular store prices. Check it out at Tiffany Doodles today.

I also put this in the SplitcoastStampers gallery for today's Free For All - make a project reflecting something you loved/love for the summer. (I used to love hanging out with the butterflies.)

I used the profile version and colored it with copics. I also used the Label 3, found in Tiffany's store, and put the sentiment inside, coloring the frame with Copics as well. I love this Paper Trey designer paper from the Guidelines paper pack. Hopefully this card inspires you to check out Tiffany's store for this and other amazing images.

Second up, Tiffany is releasing this 3D heart image with 4 sentiments.

I put the sentiment on the same panel as the image (and will admit I wish I had placed it a little bit lower to center it more), before coloring with Copics. I added some glossy accents to all the hears to make them even more "3D" before cutting it out with my xacto. The papers I used are from Stampin Up and then finished with a few pearls and some pretty in pink ribbon knots.

Hopefully I did Tiffany's images justice.

SplitcoastStampers' Ways to Use it Challenge WT330 - Doilies

Today, we were challenged to use doilies in our projects.

I've been playing around with My Digital Studio and Photoshop Elements and all kinds of digital stuff - have had it, need to start using it. I came across these digital doilies and this pretty digital paper, and had to give it a try. There's a couple of pretty petals added here & there.

The image is from Mo Manning's, Digital Pencil Too, colored with Copics. Mats are Rose Red. I used pretty in pink & rose red SU markers to color the SU crocheted flower before topping on some celery flourishes and a pretty pink pearl brad. Some lace trim and a pink ribbon came next. Finished with a Hero Arts sentiment stamped in Rose Red.

Tiffany Doodles Challenge TD14 - All Creatures Great and Small

What a wonderful subject for the challenge this month, Tiffany - "All Creatures Great and Small". Head over to Tiffany Doodles Digital Stamps blog to see the challenge posted.

For this challenge, I couldn't resist, so I made 2 cards.

This first one is Tiffany's Bluebird image. This was one of the first images I ever downloaded from Tiffany, but I've been so intimidated before now to color it. I used Copics and am actually very pleased with how it turned out. Silly me, what was I so afraid of? I used the Basic Grey Boxer designer papers, Stampin Up crocheted trim and a couple of flourishes from Navy cardstock. Last, I added some glossy accents to his eyes and a couple of pearls. I like the rust and navy color scheme.

For my second card, I used the mouse image and colored it with Copics, then tweaked it with a bit of prismacolored pencils and gamsol. Again, I went back to my Basic Grey papers, this time using Max and Whiskers (of course), Not quite navy and more mustard. The sentiment is computer generated directly onto the image panel. I finished it off with some brown brads and some glossy accents for his eye.

The Tiffany Doodles Store has such a wonderful collection of creatures - both whimsical and photosketch - that you'll absolutely love to play with, so head on over.

SplitcoastStampers Color Challenge CC330

Today's color challenge over at SplitcoastStampers is:
Tango Tangerine - Rich Razzleberry - Melon Mambo

Three very bright colors that I normally would not reach for in the same project, but I'm pleasantly surprised at how they turned out.

First up is a digital image from Tiffany Doodles, "Daisy", which I colored with Copics to look as close to the Tango Tangerine as I could. The background is digital dp from Stampin Up's My Digital Studio (First Edition), that I sponged the edges with Melon Mambo. I fniished by adding some bright orange (tango?) Stickles and a razzleberry ribbon. What do you think?

My second attemps is a digital image from The Stamping Boutique, "Spring". I realize that we're in to the summer season now, but I've been meaning to color this for awhile and the bright colors for the challenge were calling out. I colored the word with Copics and added some sponged clouds before adding some glossy accents here and there as well as some orange Stickles. The background is again a digital dp from My Digital Studio, melon mambo distressed, which I stamped with an open leaf in melon mambo. I colored the leaves in with Tango Tangerine ink pad and a blender pen. At first, I was afraid this might look 'fall-like', but I think the brighter pink and orange (and the word 'spring') sets the viewer straight on the season. I finished with the same razzleberry grosgrain ribbon as the first card. I actually like the way this turned out.

The Stamping Boutique's Challenge #10

This week, The Stamping Boutique's Challenge is to create a summer scene. What better than to choose this adorable Audrey with her tube?

Audrey was colored with Copics before I cut her out with my xacto. The designer paper is from Stampin Up's My Digital Studio, the baja breeze small flower. I then put some images from the Laundry Line on the dp to tie the whole thing together. The 'beach' she's standing on is kraft small flower, also from My Digital Studio, which I matted on baja then wrapped a few times with some chocolate Bakers twine. Finished with a corner punched with not quite navy and added a few gold rhinestones for a bit of bling. The sentiment is computer generated.

I also sent this card to the Creative Inspirations Paint Challenge for this week - Summer Vacation.

SplitcoastStampers Try a New Technique TLC332 - Faux Silk

Today over at SplitcoastStampers, the Technique challenge is to create a project using the Faux Silk technique with a twist.

Don't know about Faux Silk? Here's an abbreviated description:

1. Stamp an image on tissue paper
2. Crumple up the tissue paper into a ball (once the ink has dried)
3. Carefully un-crumple - be extra careful NOT to smooth it out.
4. Take a piece of cardstock - works better on lighter shades (my favorite is the Natural white or confetti) and apply glue (I've tried the tombow liquid, a glue stick and several others, all with the same results). It just has to be completely covered, unlike what you would get with a tape runner, in streaks. Make sure you glue up an area that's at least as big as the stamped image with a bit of a border around it so when you trim it down, you'll not have loose tissue on the perimeter.
5. TAP - this is the key - DON'T smooth out ... tap down on the image so that some wrinkles form in the paper. Make sure you 'walk' your fingers around the entire piece to adhere it all down to the cardstock.
6. Set aside to dry
7. Trim as you would any other image
8. Fun finishers - I like to lightly sponge over once it's dry with something like Tim Holtz' Antique Linen - it makes the wrinkles pop and look more like silk fabric.

Anyway ... on to my (3) ... yes, three ... samples. I've not used this Stampin Up Summer by the Sea set in so long, it actually wept in appreciation as I pulled it off the shelf.

I stamped all 3 images with Memento brown ink and let dry before crumpling the papers. After adhering them as described above, and letting them dry, I sponged lightly over all of them with the Antique Linen and then trimmed them down. Once they were trimmed down, I used various shades of stamp pads and a watercolor brush to lightly watercolor them.

Fun with Tiffany Doodles digital iamges

Sat down today and colored and put some cards together.

This first one is called ... Hmm ... it's on the tip of my tongue ... "Bloom!", yeah that's it. I colored this with Copics then sponged in some clouds before mixing up some patterned pieces of designer paper and adding a rose ribbon.

This second one is the Tall Daisy image and one of her sentiments. I copied the flower and flipped it for a mirrored look. This was also colored with Copics and sponged in the clouds. I love this sentiment - It just strikes me as being so peaceful. I have to start writing down the names of the designer papers before I cut and discard that little strip of identifying information. The card measures about 5.25 inches squared.

Emerald Faerie Garden Challenge #4

I chose this Ebony image and colored her with Copics.

The image was printed a wee bit on the large side so I ended up making the card 5 inches squared. I have a pretty in pink base with a garden green mat then some pretty pink/white designer paper. The 2 cross panels are some green designer paper thatn is glitter embossed. I used my new EK border punch for the mat behind the image panel, added a grosgrain ribbon and called it a day.

Featured Stamper at SplitcoastStampers

Today's Featured Stamper over at SplitcoastStampers is Cindy, or CJOY as she's known at SCS.

I found this card that Cindy made and changed a couple of things, like the paper, the image panel, the sentiment and the ribbon.

First off, I printed the Basic Grey digital designer paper then I put it back in and put randomly placed outlines fo the focal image for a little bit of visual texture. The real testure came into play when I had to run this throught my crimper. I then sponged over the ridges using the Tim Holtz pumice stone distress ink to make the ridges stand out a little bit more.

The image was colored with Copics and then lightly sponged around the edge to give it a slightly aged look. I used Saffron and Wasabi for matting and card base and finished off with a pretty striepd yellow grosgrain ribbon.

Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers IC291

Today's Inspiration challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers was to be inspired by the artwork at Oopsy Daisy.com. Tons of things to look at from Wall Art to Jewelry. Spent the better part of an hour just looking, forgetting I was there for inspiration, not necessarily to buy anything, lol.

For my first card, I was inspired by this cute necklace, but I turned it up a notch to make a more elegant card. The pink inspired me, I guess. The digital image I used was from A Day for Daisies, Dress 1, that I colored with Copics. I was initially worried about the heavier lines, especially since I printed this on regular Staples white cardstock, but the Copics didn't smear the ink. Whew - I don't have a laser printer, so I was a bit worried, but it worked great. I added some diamond Stickles to her skirt and some Spica clear gel pen to the embossed parts of the butterflies which were from the Sizzix butterfly embosslet. Added a couple of heart brads before I was done.

For my second card, I was inspired by this beautiful painting, In the Purples. (I thought it was beautiful.) I love the blues and purples together here.

I used another digital image from A Day for Daisies, Jewelry Box, and colored her with Prisma colored pencils and Gamsol. I took a relief of a label die and sponged the inside with some blues and purples before cutting with my Creative Memories oval cutter. The mats are pacific point and eggplant envy and the designer papers are from the Stampin up blueberry crisp pack and the eggplant designer pack. Finished off with a Hero Arts sentiment punched with a circle punch and some purple Stickles.

So did I come close to the Inspiration challenge?

The following two images were chosen to celebrate either one.

Since I have friends up Canada way, plus my birthday is Monday as well, I decided to use them both.

For my first card, (since it IS Canada day first), I used the Canadian Moose digital image from The Stamping Boutique. I colored him with copics and cut with my Creative Memories circle tools, leaving his antlers 'outside the box'. I actually made the Canadian maple leaf background paper and sponged the edges with real red before applying the border punched red with white ribbon. The sentiment is from Hero Arts stamped in real red then circle punched & matted on scalloped red circle.

For my second card, I used the Eagle, also found at The Stamping Boutique. I basically just shaded him and colored his beak before cutting him out with an exacto. Again, I made the background paper with the stars and stripes then sponged with brilliant blue. I didn't want a whole lot of busy going on, so I just die cut a brilliant blue panel & ran it through the lattice embossing folder then sponged over it with white. Added some blue ribbon then the tag (Stampin Up sentiment) was embossed & sponged in real red, trimmed off one side then tied a red piece of ribbon with some red Bakers twine. I like the simple look to this one, myself, hope you do too.

Tiffany Doodles New Release

Omygosh, I just about fell in love when I saw this new digital set from Tiffany Doodles. I didn't want to pick just one of the images in the Shell Set so I made a collage of them.

They were colored with Copics. I used Kraft and Saffron as mats with some Stampin Up designer papers. The sentiment is computer generaged and punched with a Spellbinders die then stenciled to give it a bit more texture before popping it up for dimension. I added a triangle of the dp popped up with a gold brad in it.

I love the way the soft yellows and peaches go here. Hope you enjoy it just as much as I did.

Way to Use It Challenge WT 329 - Something Old, Something New

Today over at the Ways to Use It forum over at Splitcoaststampers, Hannah has a wonderful challenge for us ...

Something Old ... Something New

These are so fun because I force myself to use stuff I've had forever that has been shoved aside to make room for the fancy new stuff. (Shame on me!)

I just downloaded this wonderful digital image from A Day For Daisies yesterday and colored her with Copics. I used my old Creative Memories cutting system for the oval (can you say 10 years?) and left the butterflies "out of the box". Another oldie is the designer paper - has to be at least a couple of years old. I kept the colors in Not Quite Navy, Bashful and Pretty in Pink. I stamped a couple of flourishes in NQN on the designer paper and finished with a Stampin Up sentiment oval punched & matted on a Pretty in Pink scalloped oval punch. The image and sentiment are popped up for dimension. Finished off with some clear glitter gel pen lining the strings and a pretty in pink grosgrain ribbon.

Stamps R Us Challenge - There was a Little Girl

Today over at Stamps R Us, the "There Was a Little Girl" challenge is being sponsored by A Day For Daisies digital images. OMYGOSH! Tammy Thompson, the artist, has some beautiful delicate images.

For this challenge, I used the Little Nymph image and colored her with Copics. I added some diamond Stickles to her wings and some sponged clouds before cutting out with one of the Labels dies from Spellbinders. Below that, I used another label die with some Paper Trey designer paper & stenciled/sponged/embossed the edges before popping up for dimension. All designer papers are from Paper Trey's Guide Lines pack, which I'm hoarding, lol. I used garden green and Pale Plum cardstock before finishing off with some green satin ribbon and some pale green pearls.

While I was at it, I also made a couple of other cards using the A Day for Daisies digital images.

I keep going back there every day to pick out more and more, lol.

Both of these were colored with Copics as well. I added some diamond Stickles to the Pixie's wings. Basic Grey designer paper on the card on left while I used the same Guide Lines papers from Paper Trey for the one on the right.

These were so yummy to color up. I have 4 others colored that need to find their way into a card, so expect to see a few more later this week.

A Day for Daisies Challenge #21

This week over at A Day For Daisies, the challenge is to create a project using pastels, the kicker is No Pink! She's offering this freebie image of Sleeping Flower to participators.

I colored this darling image with Copics. Those wings are shades of Violet, I promise! It was really hard to keep this whole thing pastel-colored. I kept wanting to reach for a color that would pop, lol, but I kept true to the challenge by using saffron and celery cardstock and an old designer paper from K&C of daisies. Finished off with some celery twill ribbon, celery flourishes and some pale green pearls.

I'm loving these delicate images, I'm telling you!

Playing with Tiffany Doodles images

Just having some fun with some Tiffany Doodles digital images.

I wanted to make a masculine card with this fox, so kept the embellishments to a minimum. The fox was colored with Copics and then "out of the box" cut so the upper part was outside the suede mat underneath. Card base is garden green with suede mat & unkown designer paper. For the 2 vertical strips, I used some Stampin Up designer paper & matted onto suede. The sentiment is computer generated and circle punched. Image & sentiment panels were sponged with Antique Linen from Tim Holtz and popped up on dimentionals.

This next card has another image from Tiffany Doodles, the Unicorn. I also colored him with Copics and then added some sponged clouds using Bashful Blue. The designer paper is from Stampin Up. Base is vanilla with artichoke mats. Around the designer base I added 2 strips of blue grosgrain ribbon. I finished it off by adding a vanilla flourish dotted with some blue liquid pearls. The sentiment was computer generated directly to the image panel.

2 Sisters Challenge - #45 Fairies

Today's challenge over at 2 Sisters Challenge Blog is to create a project using fairies. The Stamping Boutique is sponsoring. The dilemma here is which fairy to choose ...

I chose the Cynthia "I Love You This Much" digital image found at The Stamping Boutique because I haven't used her for awhile.

I colored her with Copics then added some yellow Stickles before cutting her out. She's popped up for dimension. I used the Stampin Up sentiment 'sparkle' and added some yellow Stickles around the perimeter after punching with the oval punch and matting on red scalloped oval. The sentiment is popped up for dimension as well. The designer paper is from Stampin Up. I flipped the horizontal strip over from the blue flowered paper and tied a red stitched grosgrain ribbon.

A simple card, yet I think it highlights this Cynthia.

Picnic Basket by The Stamping Boutique

I don't know about you, but we like to do picnics in the summer. Loved this new Basket as soon as I saw it at The Stamping Boutique.

Colored this digital image with Copics. Orange base and dp have chocolate mats. The sentiment is from Stampin Up that I cut with a Spellbinders long oval die. The image panel has rounded top corners. Finished off with some chocolate satin ribbon threaded through the slots of the sentiment panel.

Ways to Use It - Challenge WT328 - No White Cardstock

Today is my turn to present the challenge over at the Splitcoast Stampers' Ways to Use it Challenge. I've been on a bit of a kraft kick lately, so I figured it hasn't been done for a long while, lets roll with it.

I actually made two cards for the challenge - couldn't pick just one, so I went with this duo. Both are digital images from A Day for Daisies. Oh my, where has this company been? I love all the beautiful delicate images Tammy has over at ADFD. Be sure to check her site out for some beautiful images.

For the card on the left, I used the Fairy Dress #7, printed onto Kraft and colored with Copics. To finish it off, I added some diamond Stickles to the wings and her sash, a rippled ribbon of seam binding and a computer generated sentiment die cut with one of the Nesties labels.

My second card used the Twinkle Freebie as well as the Starsleeper Sentiment printed onto Kraft. This time, however, I colored the image with Prisma colored pencils and Gamsol. Added some yellow glitter gel pen to the stars in the sky and the moons on his jammies then some Glossy Accents to the moon. Finished off with some saffron flourishes and grosgrain ribbon.

The Stamping Boutique's Challenge #9 - No Designer Paper

This week's challenge over at The Stamping Boutique is to create a project using absolutely NO manufactured/purchased Designer Paper. You can make some up as I've done here.

My "designer paper" was made using the digital image from The Stamping Boutique of a spool of thread - you'll find it under the Cynthia Collection. After I colored all these randomly placed spools of thread with my Copics, I brushed the edges with Tim Holtz Tea Dye then ran it through the Stampin Up Lattice embossing folder.

The image was colored with Copics, then I added some Glossy Accents to the wings, 'shroom and needle, as well as some yellow Stickles to the sparkles.

I love creating my own designer paper from images or stamps I have 'laying around'.

Stamptacular Sunday - Fun in the Sun!

Ever see Grease with Travolta & Newton-John. Don't know why but as soon as I saw the challenge, "Summer Lovin'" has been playing over & over in my mind ... But that's neither here nor there, lol ... Just an FYI.

I chose the Summer Laundry Line from The Stamping Boutique and colored it with Copics. I then added some sponged clouds.

The paper layers are from Stampin' Up and layered them with real red or navy. The sentiment is computer generated, word window punched then matted on label of navy. Finished off with some bubble corners and some red distressed Stickles.

Oh man, do I ever wish I was at the beach today ... Overcast & muggy, but not worth lugging stuff there for it to rain & come back.

Tiffany Doodles new release - Check out CDAC

Today, Tiffany Richards of Tiffany Doodles is hosting the Color Challenge over at CDAC, or Crafters Digital Art Center.

~ Shades of Blue ~

Tiffany is offering this wonderful sailboat image for FREE for those participating in today's color challenge at CDAC only. Can you say "Exclusive" ?

I colored the image with Copics. I used a Spellbinders label die for the image and a cloud die from My Favorite things. After cutting out the clouds, I ran them through the swiss dots embossing folder and then sponged the edges with bashful blue.

The sentiment is computer generated. I used some designer paper from the Stampin Up Blueberry Crisp paper pack. The strip across the bottom is supposed to mimic a watery horizon. I finished with a flourish of white cut from a Sizzix flourish die and some pale blue pearls.

Ways to Use it Challenge WT327 - Viva La Vellum

Today over at Splitcoast Stampers, in the Ways to Use it Challenge, Toni from the Ways to Use It Challenge team is asking us to use Vellum in our projects. Love it! I never grab my vellum unless I'm specifically asked to use it.

I stamped this verse from Our Daily Bread onto a piece of printed vellum from Stampin Up. I then used a Spellbinders die to cut out and then stencil the edges with Tea Dye. I went fairly light, so not sure if it's showing up. I then mounted the vellum on a piece of saffron cardstock cut through the same die, attaching with gold brads and then popping up for dimension.

The card base is saffron with garden green then Basic Grey's Boxer designer paper. The corner triangles are from same paper pack, matted with saffron. I didn't want too much else distracting from the verse, so I just popped on some flowers and called it a day.

I love the way vellum looks on a card - WHY don't I use it more, again? I forget.

New Releases from Tiffany Doodles - Golf Cart & Fishing Set

Today, Tiffany Doodles released 2 new sets - PERFECT for that special guy in your life.

This first card I made using the Golf Cart set. I used the cart w/the bag in tow as well as the golf ball sitting up on a tee. I computer generated the FORE onto the golf ball ... and the rest of the sentiment just rolled out.

I colored the image with Copics and then cut out the cart and golf ball to set up on dimensionals. The rolling hills were created using two different designer papers and the Creative Memories wavy cutter then overlapping them. I used to golf all the time, now this card is making me want to do a bit more ... Never mind my slice, lol.

For this second card, I used the Fishing Set. I added the fishing pole to the original image panel and skewed it slightly before cutting it so that it was partially "out of the box". The lure, boat and pole were all colored with Copics. I've had this MuddlePuddle since the CHA last summer and thougth this was the perfect time to break it out of the package. It took forever to dry (or was that my impatience shining through?), but well worth the wait - looks SO much like the real thing!

The sentiment was computer generated in chocolate. I sponged some clouds over the sentiment panel and the top of the main image panel using my scalloped template made with scalloped scissors.

Ways to Use it - Paper Piercing - WT326

Today's challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers for the Ways to Use it Challenge WT326 is to use PAPER PIERCING on your project.

I picked this digital design by Sylvia Zet that I got from Spesch Designer Stamps. (The illustrator, Sylvia Zet, also has her own site, Wee Stamps and colored her with Copics. I trimmed the borders for a bit of the Out of the Box technique so some of the flowers are spilling off the page. I wanted my paper piercing to follow the border of these flowers. The piercing is a bit on the delicate/lighter side, so I hope you can see it.

I popped the rose mat on dimensions and then the image panel up on another layer of dimensions. Designer papers are from Basic Grey's Bittersweet pack, matted in chocolate. I finished off with some diamond Stickles in the flowers and the stars, some pale greel pearls and a pretty in pink grosgrain ribbon.

It's that time, again - Tiffany's June challenge is here.

This month, Tiffany asked us to make a SUMMER challenge card. Right smack in the middle of my summer is July 4th - my birthday! I thought this wonderful Cheery Bird image was perfect to announce the Celebration.

I colored the image with Copics and then drew horizontal lines on his hat to emulate the flag. Think it looks kinda cute, what do you think? The sentiments were digitally created. I added some ribbon brads for the red satin ribbon and some glossy accents to his buckle on the hat and popped everything for dimension.

The Stamping Boutique Challenge #8 - Men Only

This week's Challenge for The Stamping Boutique is to create a card for "Men Only".

I love this AJ sitting upon the stone wall. I colored him with Copics and added a computer generated sentiment and a frame from Tiffany Doodles. I seem to be using this scalloped stencil a lot lately to create my Bashful Blue clouds in the background.

Mats are Wasabi and Celery. Added a green ribbon and some faux nail heads and it's a done deal.

Tiffany Doodles New Release - Succulent

Today, Tiffany Doodles has released 2 new images, Fat Birdbath and Succulent.

I made a card using the Succulent image. I placed the image randomly around a frame after recoloring in red and printed onto Pretty in Pink cardstock.

The sentiment is computer generated and was printed on the pink cardstock. I then printed 2 of the flowers onto white and colored them with my Copics. These were cut out and popped up on dimensionals. I added some red satin ribbon and a bow with some red pearls before calling it a day.

Ways to Use it Challenge WT325

I'm so excited! Have some fun, fun, fun news! Michelle Single, the new hostess over at Splitcoast Stampers' Ways to Use It challenge has asked me to join her team for the next few months. BOO YA! (is that how it's spelled, lol). Just the ticket I need to get back into challenge mode, I think. Kim Hughes, the previous hostess, did a marvelous job and we wish her nothing but the best as she gets her new company off the ground.

In the meantime, for her debut, Michelle chose to use DIE CUTS as her inspiration in the Ways to Use It challenge,

Today, I used this digital image from Mo Manning's Digital Pencil Too. Check out Mo's blog for her newest releases. Sprout is such a sweet image - and this is right about where our seedlings are up here in Chicagoland - barely 'sprouting'.

I colored her with Copics and airbrushed the faux frame with the die cut still in place. I also added some old olive flourish die cuts from Tim Holtz, as well as matting the designer paper from Stampin Up. I added a border of real red border punched to coordinate with the computer generated sentiment panel. A few pearls finished off the job. Hope you like it.

Another Wednesday creation

I had some more time on my hands, so I made another card for today. This is one of The Stamping Boutique's newest digital images. Dontcha just love it?

I printed on Neenah white and colored with my Prismacolored pencils and Gamsol. I then added some stenciled clouds using a scalloped template I made and Bashful Blue. I highlighted with some red glitter gel pen for the hearts and green glitter gel pen for th leaves on far right birdhouse. I then used some clear glitter gel pen for the flowers on the birdhouses. The left birdhouse plaque was hand printed. For the sentiment panel, I took off the leaves and hole and added a computer generated sentiment using the Cricket font.

I added some garden green flourishes, some brown Bakers Twine and popped the image panel and sentiment panel up for dimension.

On a Roll Today

On a roll today - Did the Splitcoast Stampers Color Challenge and the Sketch challenge as well as a random one ...

First, here's my random card - a digital image from The Stamping Boutique. I colored this flower in with Copics and then added a faux oval frame by sponging around the inside of an oval cut out with Tim Holtz' Tea Dye. You can't really see it in the photo, but I also traced around the oval with a clear glitter gel pen for a bit of glimmer to the outer edge. Think this one turned out pretty, what do you think?

My second card was made for the Splitcoast Color challenge - Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point and Daffodil Delight. The image is another digital image from The Stamping Boutique, I'm Walking on Sunshine (what else). I colored the boots & sun then sponged around the edge with Pacific Point. Some glossy accents and diamond Stickles were added here & there.

My third card is for the Splitcoast Sketch Challenge for today. This lovely Sugar Nellie Manga Girl was stamped in memento before coloring with Copics. All mats are Soft Suede and the designer papers are from the Basic Grey Sugared paper pack. The sentiment is from Stampin Up, stamped in soft suede before punching with circle punch. Little pink ribbon tags and pearls finished this one off.

I seem to be on a roll ... lets see what tomorrow brings, lol.

Stamps R Us Challenge - Pets R Us

This week's challege for Stamps R Us was sponsored by K 'n K Designs. Such sweet pet images. Can you guess where our theme came from? An added perk is to add a bit of fuzz. Not hard, considering most of our pets are fuzzy.

This cute image is from their their Let Your Heart Catch Up set - adorable puppy and 4 sentiments included.

I pictured a fluffy white pooch, so I sparingly colored him with C00,C1 Copics. For my fuzz, I added a little bit of Sweet Pea and Shamrock Flower Soft to the grass showing through. Picturing him in a beautiful meadow, right? Even tho the meadow talk is a bit girlish, I was picturing this card for either a male or female, so I used designer papers from the Basic Grey Oliver paper pack matted on suede and artichoke. This chocolate grosgrain ribbon is tied at an angle to finish it off.

Tiffany Doodles New Release - Petunia Jar

Another beauty from Tiffany Doodles, Petunia Jar. Check her store today - she also has a digital image called Petunia Frills which is just as pretty.

I can't seem to get away from these beautiful floral images from Tiffany set against a Kraft background. This is no exception. I printed the image on Kraft then colored with prismacolored pencils & gamsol. My first image was a bit small - I like these flowers on the larger side so you can see the beautiful detail. As such, I couldn't do a whole lot with embellishments.

I did stamp the background paper with a larger flourish image but you can barely see it. The card base is daffodil, as is the image mat. I finished with some white gel pen highlights and a soft, buttery yellow ribbon.

The Stamping Boutique's Challenge #7

For the 7th Challenge over at The Stamping Boutique Challenge Blog we were asked to use a Red, White and Blue theme in honor of upcoming Memorial Day.

I think this must have been one of the first images I downloaded from The Stamping Boutique last year. I colored her with Copics and shaded with a bit of greys from my prismacolored pencils stash & a bit of Gamsol. Mats are cherry cobbler and pacific point. Because this might end up over at Operation Write Home, I left off any glitter/stickles. The sentiment is from a set from Hero Arts, stamped in Pacific and punched with a circle punch. I sponged edges of all layers, dp, etc., with pacific point. Added some red brads to the sentiment, some red stitched grosgrain ribbon and called it a day.

Wonderful new releases at Tiffany Doodles

Some beautiful new digital releases over at Tiffany Doodles today -

Flowering Branch, Wood Posts and Zinnia-2

I love this Flowering Branch image so much - what a joy to get my Copics back in the swing of things. I printed the image out onto Kraft cardstock. After coloring, I added a few white hightlights. I love how the highlighted flowers look against the Kraft backdrop ... I'm finding myself printing more and more out onto the darker background. I used my Creative Memories ovals and then distressed the image and mat panels (regal rose) before sponging both with Tim Holtz' Tea Dye. I mounted the image up on dimensionals on the mat to give it a further 3D look, then again against the designer paper. The sentiment is from the dollar bin at my local stamp store (think it might be Hero Arts), which I then punched with an oval. I used a double-slotted hand punch for the ribbon access & popped this up on dimensionals as well. After matting the designer paper onto regal rose, I added some brown Baker's twine before popping all onto a Kraft base. (can you tell Kraft is my new favorite, lol).

The versatility of this next set, Wood Posts, is wonderful. There's this single planked sign and another with 4 smaller planks, that you can add your own message to. After coloring the sign (surprise - I printed this onto Kraft, also), I wrote in the sentiment using angular, sharp lettering. I then traced over the lettering just outside the line with the E33 to show a smidge of shadow to give a carved look. Not sure how it shows in the photograph, but looks very nice IRL. I added some chocolate Stickles before matting onto garden green. A Sizzix flourish and 3 metal leaf brads, and this card was done. I wanted to keep it fairly simple since I had in mind a masculine look.

Here's another Zinnia from Tiffany - Love this one, too. I colored with Copics then used a Spellbinders label die to cut then stencil/sponged a faux border with cherry cobbler ink. Pink pearls were added to the points before popping up on dimensionals. The designer papers are from Stampin Up. I sponged the edges of the print DP with more cherry cobbler. Heart corner punches from Sizzix die were attached (yes, they're different, but I like that look) with a pearl at the corners. Finally, I added a 'Gratitude' charm to a strip of ribbon & called it a day.

I used a digital image from Tiffany Doodles from her Cherry Blossom set, printed on Kraft. I used Regal Rose and Razzleberry ink pads to watercolor the image. My card base is Regal Rose. I used a piece of vanilla cardstock that I ran through my Stampin Up lattice embossing folder then sponged the edges with more Regal Rose ink before matting onto Razzleberry. The sentiment is from a Hero Arts set, punched with an oval scallop punch & matted with Razzleberry. Some pearls and a snippet of Razzleberry polka dot ribbon, and this card was done.

Shopping Our Stash Challenge - Show us Your Area

Wonderful new blog, Shopping Our Stash opened up with the basic premise to use up our stashes instead of constantly shopping. After getting a look-see at all my stuff, I'm certain (with the exception of my beloved Tombow adhesives that I simply WON'T do without) that I don't need to go shopping for quite some time. Shhh ... don't tell my husband. What he doesn't know won't hurt him.

I'm embarrassed to say - this is my crafting dungeon as of today. Normally I would have straightened up, but this is the real-deal. I guess I'm lucky in that I have 1/2 the basement to expand into, but I have cement walls on my unfinished side so I'm limited to these portable storage bins/drawers & stand alone shelves for now. We just had carpeting installed in the finished 1/2 so alot of extras have ended up over in my territory til I reorganize. Even with the entire 1/2 of the basement, you can see I've boxed myself in so that the majority of my supplies are within reach. All I have to do is spin around in the chair & I have nearly everything I need right at my fingertips.

These are my miscellaneous stamps and accessories - it's 4 drawer-sets hooked together with a shoe shelf sittig on top (bowing fromt he weight of the punches, lol). I think I must have about 10 of them scattered here & there around me.

Here is looking over to the right of my desk at my Stampin Up shelves (table full of misc is blocking entire view) ... the L shaped set of bookcases are stacked full of SU sets. The 3-cabinets underneath the blue shelves is full of stuff I use, too. This table is the current bane of my existence, but since school just got out last week, I haven't had the inclination to sort - Having more fun getting back into stamping. I figure a re-sort of my area is going to be my interim project before summer session starts up, and that's only one class, so I'm sure I'll have it the way I want it pretty soon.

SCS's Try a New Technique - Paper Buttons - with Marie by The Stamping Boutique

Here's another addition - Been ages since I participated in the Splitcoast challenges (serious withdrawal here). Today, I was inspired to use this brand new digital image from The Stamping Boutique - I love all things "Kings & Queens" from the past - imagine my ecstacy with Camelot, Game of Thrones and Borgias on cable mini-series all at once - I'm in heaven. Plus, I just saw the Kirsten Dunst version of Marie Antoinette only last week. (nothing to write home about, but it did satisfy that weird urge for 'period piece'). Shocker - I'm digressing.....

Today's Splitcoast's Try a New Technique Challenge was to create paper buttons. There's a tutorial over in their Resource section, entitled Paper Buttons. Basically, I took 5 punched hearts and glued them together with liquid glue, stamping the top layer with a background stamp. I then used my Crop-a-Dial to punch the holes. After this, I propped the 'button' on 2 swizzle sticks and slathered the button with Glossy Accents. (My challenge was to wait for it to dry - argh). It says wait 1/2 hour, but I had mine on the thicker side, so took a good 1-1/2 hours before I could touch it. VERY COOL technique, indeed! I've got to get some more punches in button size to do more.

Anyway, this image was colored with Copics and then I added some Stickles (diamond & fruit punch) as well as glossy accents to the hanging jewels & her feathers. Because of the size of the image, I kept the layering simpler (this is actually a 4.5x6.25" card), with just rose mats, pink pirouette base and unk DP. I punched slots for the ribbon & threaded the button with some rose floss.
