Color Me Creative Challenge #11

Too danged cold outside to want to go anywhere today, so I sat and colored ... and colored ... and colored, lol.  Came up with 5 new cards for the challenge over at Color Me Creative - The theme being Flowers, but colored with Copics.

This first card is from Tiffany Doodles' digital line, Zinnia.  I used V12, 15, 17, G20, 21, YG03, W3, W1.



This next one, also from Tiffany Doodles is the 2 Butterflies image.  I used R81, 83, 85, YG63, 67, B000, B00, Y11, 17, YR(?forgot?).

This next one is the Petals Up from Tiffany Doodles, also colored with Copics.

Last one from Tiffany Doodles is this Bird of paradise digital image, once again, colored with Copics.  I like the layout, just wish I had gone a little more towards yellowy-orange for the flower, but it is what it is.

It's 1:30 in the morn, so forgive me if I'm not telling a story tonight.

Color Me Creative Challenge #11 - Floral Creations

Color Me Creative Challenge #11 is to create a card using some kind of a floral image and our Copics.  Guess who the host is ...

Tiffany Doodles!!

I chose the Hydrangea from Tiffany Doodles and colored in shades of lavendar.  Tiffany has such realistic photosketch images, they're a dream to color - and the results after coloring?  FABULOUS!  This card uses Basic Grey designer paper from the Sugared paper pack, some eggplant and lavendar cardstock.  I punched the corners of the image panel with the same border punch, added a lavendar ribbon and some graduated lavendar pearls before calling it a day. 

Being a purple/lavendar aficionado - I love it, let me know what you think!

Here's what I came up with this month -

I've been eyeballing these wrapped candies & finally decided what I wanted to do - I actually broke free of my Copics (GASP!) and used prismas & gamsol - my equally favorite coloring medium, but often forgotten in favor of their more chic cousins.  I used pink and black theme - love how it makes the pink look - with some scraps from my Basic Grey Bittersweet paper pack.  Finished with black flourish, heart border and scalloped mat for the sentiment - oh, and some beautiful pink pearls.  Yummy!

Kaboodle Doodles Challenge - Use up that RIBBON !

Fun, Fun, Fun ... I can't throw away any piece of ribbon that's longer than 3-4 inches - You just never know, right?

I took some ribbon strips that are too short to tie bows in and wove them into the corner.  The image is a digital from The Stamping Boutique - Jewelry Box, that I colored with Copics.  Don't know if you can see, but added tiny dots of glossy accents to those pearls and that 'honking' sapphire ring for dimension.  I added a flourish cut from plum and some flowers (Thanks, Julie) with some soft lavendar brads at the center.  Sentiment is from Hero Arts with some sponging and lavendar liquid pearls to finish it off.



Oh yeah, have I forgot to tell you that my favorite color is purple ?  If it's not purple, lavendar right along side.

Little bit of Everything

Guess what I forgot to upload to The Color Me Creative site for their "Red" challenge ... yep, these cards here ... Love this combination.  The first 3 cards have R22, 24, 27, 29.

This first one is a digital dress from Tiffany Doodles - Colored with Copics and tweaked with some clear glitter gel pen for the metal and flourishes.  Think the pearl additions work perfect, what do you think?

This next one is an Elisabeth Bell Digital, My Prince Charming.  Same coloring, just went lighter on the dress apparently.  Actually love the diamond stickles on the flowers of her little bustle thing.  Added some glossy accents to the crown and clear glitter gel pen to her tiara.

Next up is a digital Love Bug from The Stamping Boutique, again with the red combination of Copics.  Love how the designer paper mimic's the 60's flowers.

Now, for my favorite of the weekend (I think because it's a precious baby and I want to buy her in real life, lol).  This is a digital iamge from Mo Manning's Digital Pencil Too, Baby Girl s.  I used R0000, R000, R00 for her dress with some pale yellow highlights.  I added some diamond stickles to the lacy ruffles underneath the hem of her dress.  This is as precious as they get!

Digi Day at Paper Craft Planet

Today there's a Digi-Day celebration at Paper Craft Planet with challenges and a trivia game.

I didn't get over there in time to partake of the jolly banter, however, I was able to complete the projects.

Challenge #1 - Use Acrylic or Acetate on the card. 
I was in my local scrapbook/stamp store the other day and they had a bowl of acrylic tags on the counter.  While I was talking to the manager, I found myself running my hands through the tags, loving the clicking sound they made.  Okay, so I must be a tactile person, lol, cuz I had to buy a package of Tim Holtz acrylic tags that day.  Obviously couldn't get past this thought, because these tags were used on my card here.  This is a digital image from The Stamping Boutique that I colored with Copics and added some diamond Stickles to.

Some of the gals who created cards used sheets of acetate that they ran through their embossing machines - Looked fabulous, but I haven't given that a try just yet.

Challenge #2 - Make a Valentine card VOID of Red or Pink
Those of you that know me, know I'm a glitter phobe ... maybe even an orange-a-phobe, lol.  Orange has NEVER been one of my go-to colors, that's for sure!  Even pumpkin colors are outside my box.  Explain, then, why when I see some of these cards that are created predominantly orange that I love them so much - am I a Closet Orange-lover? Hmm ... At any rate, I forced myself to think 'orange' for this one, and am actually very happy with the results.  The image is another digital from The Stamping Boutique colored with Copics with some Stickles in the corners.  I laugh looking at this - TRYING to do so with an objective eye - there's really not that much orange on the card, girlfriend ... Oh well, "baby steps", right?

Challenge #3 - Doodle some Hearts somewhere on the card
NOT a problem ... I can't take notes, write down a phone number or do ANYTHING without some form of doodling.  This one was a walk in the park for me.  I used a digital image from The Stamping Boutique, keeping the white expanse so I could doodle the 'vines' and 'heart flowers'.  The image itself was colored with Copics, then I used Stampin Up markers to doodle.  I added some Fruit Punch Stickles on the punched border/mat.

Splitcoast Ways to Use it Challenge

Today over at Splitcoast Stampers, the Ways to Use it challenge is to use Hearts.

This first card uses a digital image from The Stamping Boutique, Audrey at the Wishing Well.  I made her on the large size as I wanted her to be predominant on the card.  She was colored with Copics (R00, 20, 22, 24, 27, 29, E000, 00, 11, Y23, YR23, E33, E40, C1, 3, 4, 5).  I added some red stickles to the patch on her heart and yellow stickles to her shoe buckles.  The sentiment is computer generated, punched with an oval then popped up on a heart punched from a Creative Memories punch.  I added some diamond stickles to the edge of the heart mat.  Finishing touches included yet more hearts in the form of a Martha Stewart heart border punch with a ribbon tied around it.

This second card was made for the same challenge.  This is a digital image of Patch (the bear) that I merged onto the new bench Tracey just came out with before coloring with Copics (E31, 33, 35, YR23, E51, 53, V12, 15, R00, R20, 24, 27, C1, 3, YG11, G21).  I added some glossy accents to Patch's nose, heart and to the heart and dots on the bench.  The sentiment is a Hero Arts stamped then punched with a Creative Memories heart punch, then matted on eggplant.  The panel behind the image is white cut with an open scalloped Nestie then sponged with lavendar.  Finished off with some lavendar Stickles on the scalloped circle, image panel and sentiment panel, as well as a lavendar satin ribbon.  I'm loving this one - of course, Purple is my favorite color!

SCS Challenges with The Stamping Boutique

Okay, so I didn't get a chance to put some cards together, I did spend a good part of the day coloring ... Have about 8 images to "find a home" lol. 

I forced myself to get at least one on a card, so looked up the Splitcoast challenges for this week and found Monday's Technique challenge and today's Sketch challenge.

I first took a piece of Stampin' Up designer paper and ran it through one of my CB embossing folders, then took my brayer inked up with Versamark (MAKE sure to use your embossing buddy, she says from experience, lol, lots of paint brush dusting off the excess today).  I just got this copper embossing powder.

The image is Daisy's from The Stamping Boutique.  The initial image was a bit wide and I didn't want to hide all the copper embossing, so I cut it down, leaving the part of the image outside to overhang the mat - I actually love the way this turned out.  Finishing touch was the lucsious red ribbon.  I didn't add a sentiment because I didn't want to cover up the embossing or the image ... so there, lol ... it's just a note card.

Well, I'm thinking I'm off to bed now ... so much shoveling today and coloring have tired me out - I never meet up with my pillow before 12-1 am, so he'll be surprised to see me this early (11:06 pm).

Blizzard 2011

Ok, so we didn't surpass 1967's blizzard, but last night's snowstorm was quite a doozy!  It never really stopped snowing from the batch we got on Monday, but it started hitting stronger in the late afternoon - and let me tell you - they weren't kidding when they said 2-3 inches per hour.  Only thing was the snow was coming down sideways  (ok, conundrum ... down does NOT equal sideways, lol).  Wind was brutal.  We shovelled or snowblowed every 1-2 hours until about 1 am thinking we were staying on top of it ... Can I say MISTAKE?  Hubs said, "Oh it'll be fine in the morning."  Famous near last words!  Woke up this morning to 2 feet of snow against the garage door.  Couldn't open the front door.  And the drift at the bottom of the driveway was over 4 feet tall.  I can't blame it all on the snowplows, either, cuz they had only hit our street down the very center all night.  Our poor ole snowblower worked very hard this morning. 

This was about a foot up the slider - keep in mind we have 2 steps and it was level out.  If it wasn't for the stinkin' dog ...  

You can see the snow's about 18" on the ground - and that's after working on it non-stop from about 3 til midnight.  See at the end of the drive the pile was at least 4 feet with the drifting.  Hubs is saying "Ah, I see light at the end of the tunnel."  Even tho we rarely use the snowblower, man did it come in handy this morning.

The ONLY reason we shovelled out the back is because the dog just sat there looking at us this morning "Yeah, and I'm supposed to do WHAT?"  Parked his butt in front of the open door and just sat there til we shovelled him his "poop paths" ... And yes, I had to go out to the grass, cuz I don't want him getting used to taking care of his business on the patio.  Too bad we couldn't maneouver the snowblower out back.

Anyway - now that that nasty bit of business is done (and the snow is shining, lol), no school today, munchkin is still over at a sleepover (cuz I'm not driving to pick her up til they start plowing the roads), I think I shall visit my stamps ... I heard them calling earlier.  They miss me so, lol.

Hope those of you East of us don't get hit as hard. 
I know this probably isn't the worst some of you have seen, snow-wise, but it's been a long while since we got hit this hard and fast here in Chicagoland.

I made a pot of homemade chicken soup before heading out to tackle shoveling this morning and boy does it smell good.  If only my stamps 'n stuff were upstairs near the fireplace, I'd be one hugely happy camper.

Tiffany Doodles Day?

I guess I was in the Tiffany Doodles mode last night, huh?  lol.  I'm slightly burnt out from all the Valentine challenges, so I jumped ahead to spring for these next few cards.

This first one celebrates Easter with the pun Hoppy Easter.  This is a digital image, once again, from Tiffany Doodles that I colored with Copics.  I added some yellow Stickles to the flower centers on the image panel, and some fruit punch Stickles to the centers of the flowers on the green daisy chain that was punched from an EK border punch.  Love the way this Basic Grey lemonade paper pack works - that green dp is almost identical to the kiwi kiss cardstock.  I didn't realize how close this old olive ribbon matches the kiwi til now ... Think it'd be a fun card for a little young'un to get for Easter, don't you?

This next one is a digital from Tiffany as well ... Bear cub was colored with Copics.  I created the sentiment on the computer - nyuk, nyuk, Beary Happy Birthday, get it?  Ok, so it was late at night and my creative juices were winding down, lol.  Another fab pairing of the designer paper from Basic Grey - I just love 'em!  Finished this one off with a 3-layered flower and a sparkly brad.  

This 3rd one I left on the simpler side, coloring-wise.  Its a simple enough image and I wanted it to speak for itself.  I did add some glossy accents to his eyes as well.  The designer paper is from Stampin Up, but I got it in a group paper purchase, so short of looking it up in the catty, I'm not sure which pack.  I did flip the blue dp over to get that red you see in the center circle.  Marina Mist and Bashful worked perfectly with this designer paper, I think.  The computer sentiment is computer generated.  Finishing touches are the ribbon and aqua rhinestones.

I think this one was certainly my favorite of the day ... Sitting Butterfly - another digital from Tiffany Doodles, colored with Copics and prisma/gamsol technique.  Forgive my branch, lol, I drew it in.  This poem was brought to my attention by Miranda van den Bosch who found it on the internet.  She did a card on 1/27 highlighting this poem.  As soon as I read it, I immediately thought of this butterfly image that Tiffany has.  The papers are from Basic Grey - I tried to lighten up the photo as much as I could to show that the background paper actually does have a pattern on it, but it's super dark navy & didn't work as well ... I stitched around the background and image panels before layering on top of a circle of dp from the same paper pack.  Finishing touches include blue rhinestones and ribbon.

We're scheduled to have anywhere from 12-25 inches of snow starting tonight into tomorrow.  We got the call last night from the Village (automated) saying to keep the roads clear, blah, blah, blah, don't drive if you don't have to, blah, blah, blah, and it's not even supposed to start up til this afternoon - I feel like a kid hoping for a Snow Day from college, lol, but there it is ...

I think I'm all set for a day of being snowed in - Yay :) 

(watch, after all this hooplah, we'll just get another 5 inches like we got last night -
