Tiddly Inks Challenge #141

For the next two weeks over at Tiddly Inks' Challenge Blog, they're having a challenge to create any kind of project, the only stimulation is that it be a Tiddly Inks fairy image.  This is what I came up with, and I think it COULD very well be the start of making holiday cards this season.  I've been so lax over the past couple of years that I've not sent cards out - shame on me ... well, here's to starting off (or ending?) the year right!

Now, technically, this image is the Christmas Pixie - but hey, she's got wings, right?  That makes her a fairy of sorts in my book ... I colored her with Copics on Cryogen iridescent - love this paper!  Still haven't gotten a new color cartridge, so scrounged for this Stampin' Up designer paper with red in it.  I used Real Red and some old Green Galore (wanted it brighter than norm) cardstock, also from SU. 

I don't know if any of you recall, but had a major computer crash in August and lost everything.  I went to use my Silhouette to cut out these snowflakes and realized that I had to reinstall the software and reload all my previous files from silhouette.com, so that took a large part of the afternoon!  Anyway, obviously it's back up and running.

Kit and Clowder Facebook Fun

Lots of fun happened this past weekend over at Kit and Clowder's Facebook page.  Lots of freebies and discounts and challenges.  I was busy with coaching my cheerleaders at back to back games on Saturday, then on Sunday I attended Cheer University all day (yes, there is such a thing, lol, and VERY helpful for coaches).  Needless to say, I didn't have the energy to come down and be creative until today. 

AND, of course, it's 11:14 at night, which is when my color cartridge decides that I wasn't going to be able to squeeze one more sheet of Bearly Mine's designer paper to match the image I picked out ... alas, I found an old stash of Stampin' Up DP that worked just fine.

This card was made for two of the Kit and Clowder challenges for their 4000 member weekend party:

This digital image is from Saturated Canary, and she's called Fashion.  I love her hairstyle, and have been dying to color her up.  I sure wish my hair looked as good as this turned out!

 

 

I didn't realize how tall and skinny she was.  I'm just realizing the need to get some narrower dies or figure out everything my dearest Silhouette can do. 

This beauty was colored with Copics, and I used Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil and Navy SU cardstock and designer paper.  I punched a lattice border out in the daffodil and added some half-pearls.  I also used a flourish punched from the daffodil underneath the flowers.  Finished off with some sheer golden ribbon and a bow.  I have to show you a close up of the leggings, I love the way these came out, too - I kind of miss leggings from the 80's, lol.

Kit n Clowder Party Weekend

This weekend, Alyce at Kit and Clowder is celebrating 4000+ members by throwing a virtual party.

This morning, some of the goodies provided were a couple of free digital images. 

This first one is from Polka Doodles is an adorable bear.  Sadly, one of Alyce's good friends and someone you all may know out there in the Copic coloring world ,Amanda Reed, passed unexpectedly.  This digitial image is being given away free for any donation given through the You Caring fundraiser set up by Alyce to help raise money for Amanda's family.  For more information regarding this, please click In Memory of Amanda Reed, and you will find the appropriate links.  I did not know Amanda personally, but I understand she was on several design teams including the Kit and Clowder team, Mo's Digital Pencil Too team and a few others over the years, so some of you visiting may be aware of her.

I colored this image with Copics and used some wonderful digital paper from Bearly Mine Designs (that's typed paper with the floral already on the page).  I love the papers Donna's designed, and I love any kind of script or typed background paper.  I used SU's garden green and melon mambo to layer the panels.  Also added were some pretty white cotton lace, a Martha Steward doily and some paper flowers I got from Paper Temptress.  See people, I'm trying to go for more embellishments - it's a slow process, and you know what they say, "slow and steady wins the race".

 

After I colored just the bear's fur, I used a scrap of terrycloth and some Copic blender solution to give the fur that texture you see, then I proceeded to color the rest.  I actually think this turned out pretty darned cute.

 

For this second card, Sugar Nellies donated this cute image of a fairy decorating a cupcake.  Click on Kit and Clowder's Facebook link again and the pinned post will tell you how you, too, can get this image.  Simply go to the Sugar Nellie's Facebook page, become a member, and you'll get the digital image, but just for this weekend.  I heard a rumor that Sugar Nellies is going to be making many of their rubber images into digital images (YAY!).  I love me some rubber, but I have to say, when it comes to stamps from the United Kingdom, I just have no patience ... I need my images now!

This little darling was also colored with Copics (you're shocked, I know).

Again, I used SU's cardstock, Eggplant and Melon Mambo to layer some more beautiful Bearly Mine Design paper - this is a purple-y diagonal plaid and light floral.

 

I added some pleated lace at the bottom of the image panel and a pretty polka dot ribbon tied in a bow to finish it off ...

Cheeky Fairy Coloring Combination

Over on Facebook, in the Kit and Clowder group, they're having a coloring challenge using this beautiful Cheeky Fairy from The Greeting Farm. 

We could color her any which way we wanted, but I also combined this Cheeky gal with the Kit and Clowder's September Color challenge.  Let's see which side you think I chose, lol.

 

For all of the designer paper, I used prints from Bearly Mine Designs packets in the above colors and layered them with SU's Mambo cardstock.

 

I'm a bit tired, and cleaned up my desk, putting all the Copics away, so I'm afraid I can't tell you which colors I used, with the exception of her skin:  E13,11,21,00,000,R20.  After she was done, I added some Wink of Stella to her wings, bow and tutu for a subtle hint of sparkle.

 

I finished with a little piece of ribbon (never let anything go to waste), a fan-folded doily that I had dragged through SU's Melon ink pad and a couple of seed pearls.

 

I think she turned out pretty cute, even with the turquoise hair, lol.

Polka Doodles Maddie

This card was made with Autumn in mind ... Specifically for the Bearly Mine Designs' September Challenge - To use autumnal colors, specifically oranges, golds, greens and browns.

This digital image from Polka Doodles is called Maddie's Hy Curl, and I thought she'd be perfect - dressed as she is, for the fall.  The image was colored with Copics, cut out with my good-ole Creative Memories cutting system.  The DP is from Bearly Mine Designs, specifically from their Fall Fancy set and a plaid print (not sure which set it's from).  I layered everything with Stampin Up cardstock: garden green, more mustard, and cajun craze.  I added some Sizzix flourish dies in the cajun and green before finishing off with some gold paper flowers (generic).

East Wind Lucy Loo Longstocking

Was having some more fun with crazy colored hair again today ... Still went with pink and blue like my last Saturated Canary Fun with Hair card, but this one looks a bit brighter.

This image is from East Wind digital stamps - crazy beautiful images - and loads of fun to color their hair!  This girl isn't taking ANY crap from ANYbody!  (And don't mess around with her little kitty!)

I colored LucyLoo with Copics and then added some gold Stickles to the chains on her boots and her ear chain.

Copics used:
    Hair:  RV09, 04, 02, 00; B26, 05, 02, 00
    Dress & striped leg:  RV00, 21, 23, 04, 09
    Right leg:  C7, 5, 3, 1; Y00
    Boots:  100, C9, 7, 5

Papers used were Stampin Up's Pacific Point and Regal Rose.  I also used some Bearly Mine Design digital paper for the blue star background.

Finishing touches include a distressed doily (Archival cobalt smudging), bright pink ribbon, gold faux brads and some pretty gold metal corners ... Have had those sitting around for years!!! and finally getting around to using them.

Saturated Canary's Nevaeh

Good Evening all ...

Fell in love with this little beauty the minute I saw her ... She's from Saturated Canary and is called Nevaeh.  I colored her with Copics and then added a little bit of Glossy Accents to her eyes then some diamond Stickles to her dress, as well as a clear sparkly Gelli Roll to her lace petticoat.

The background paper is from Bearly Mine Designs.  I stamped a paper doily from Martha Stewart with script in Archival red and black then sponged & crumpled the edges.  The flowers were on a clear card out of the pack, so I'm not sure where they're from.  Card base is the Cherry Cobbler from Stampin Up.  I finished off with some pretty pearls and called it a day ... I now realize that I need to invest in those boxes for cards to mail instead of envy's if I'm going to make these 3D.

I just adore those big, beautiful eyes, don't you?

Bearly Mine Design Team Call

Bearly Mine Design is having a Design Team call - closes this Thursday, September 4, 2014.

I've been using Bearly Mine Design digital papers for a couple of years now, and I can't tell you how much I love, love, love them.  Many of the designs come in several different color options which makes it even more difficult to choose just one.

I used to be on a couple of design teams for digital stamp makers, Tiffany Doodles and The Stamping Boutique, until nursing school got in the way.  Now that I've graduated with my RN, and am studying mostly online for the BSN, I find I have more time to be able to sit and create beautiful cards and projects.  I've printed out so many digital images that are sitting on my desk, some partly colored, some colored, just waiting for the right inspiration to strike.  I plan on scouring for some challenges as well to incorporate some of these digi beauties, and plan on utilizing the digi papers from Bearly Mine that I have to complete the projects.

Luna from Polka Doodles

Well, things are starting to settle down again after getting DD off to college ... Why is it that Florida had the hottest days of their summer (97-99 every day we were there) so far when we were there ... Still, surprisingly, it wasn't as humid as when we got back home to only 82 degrees but 82% humidity.  I need to schedule another vacation!

Anyway, this little darling is from Polka Doodles and she's called Luna.  This week at Kit and Clowder's FB page, they're having a Coloring Competition featuring Luna. 

I printed Luna on Heavenly Smooth cardstock - have to admit I DO like myself some nice Cryogen Irridescent, but I'm out, so will have to be contacting Paper Temptress pretty soon.  I used my Copics to color her.  Background paper is from Bearly Mine Designs, digital paper with daisies and cherries all over - it's adorable, but I seem to have covered most of it up with some Copic colored Prima flowers.  I added a bit of lace to the Cherry Cobbler red strip.
