Tulip Fairy by The Stamping Boutique

Created this darling for the challenge over at The Stamping Boutique.  This challenge is to create your own handmade flowers.

I was sitting at my Rockstar's volleyball game this weekend and made a few of these crocheted flowers.  Not quite as symmetrical as my Stampin Up crocheted flowers, plus the thread is a bit thicker, but I actually like the way it looks behind this pink pearled brad.

The image is Tulip Fair from The Stamping Boutique.  I colored her with Copics.  Once I started to piece the card together, I realized the image was covering nearly the whole width, so I used the 'out of the box' to fussy cut part to overhand.  I actually love the way it turned out.  I used some of Stampin Up's crocheted trim to sorta match the flower (same color, anyway, lol)

I'm also entering this in the Kaboodle Doodles Spring Challenge.

Make some flowers of your own and then head on over to The Stamping Boutique to show us what you've got!

Quirky Crafts challenge - Twisted Easel card

The challenge over at Quirky Crafts Challenge this week was to create a Twisted Easel card (and/or a Mother's Day gift).  I've not done a twisted easel card in ages, so I went down that path.  The Stamping Boutique is one of their sponsors for this challenge, so head over to the store to see the fun new images Tracey's brewed up.

I actually started with this designer paper - love the color combo of rose and pumpkin ... From there, because of the dotted dp on the inside of the card, I knew immediately that I wanted to use this bunny image w/the polka dots on the ribbon and egg.  Of course, the inside had to be decorated since it'll be propped open to take advantage of this cute bunny, held in place w/matching button.  I added some orange Stickles to the bow to bring a little bling (and who doesn't like bling?) to this cutie pie.

Love the way this turned out ... I don't know what I'm going to do with all these Easter themed cards, tho, lol, I don't really know THAT many peeps :).
Here's a close up.

Here's the card flat, before setting it up - I finished the panels on top so it looks just as pretty before propping it open.

Thanks for popping in for a look-see!

Celebrate with Dutch Dare

This week, Dutch Dare Card Challenge is celebrating their 105th challenge!  Their challenge this week ... "Celebration"

Lots of fun sponsors this week, including ... drum roll, please ... The Stamping Boutique!

I chose one of Tracey's new fairy images from her Enchantment Line and colored it with these Copics.

Added a bit of stickles for the sparkle necessary to make a good fairy, right?  The sentiment is from Stampin Up.

Hope you enjoy.
Thanks for stopping by.

Japanese Magnolia from Tiffany Doodles

Beautiful Japanese Magnolia image from Tiffany Doodles.  There are actually 5 different images - I've used 3 of them here with this card.
I know not typical of the Japanese Magnolia colors, but I had this beautiful Japanese paper that I wanted it to coordinate with.  The sentiment is computer generated.  Flowers were colored with Copics.  I sponged the edge with Antique Linen then attached a pretty gold trimmed organdy ribbon with eyelets (yes, still have some of those, lol).

Tiffany from Tiffany Doodles will be offering these (5) images in a set at her store and proceeds will be donated to Japan through the Red Cross.

In the meantime, I made this card for the Stamps R Us challenge - runs for 2 weeks - this challenge is to create a Spring themed card.  Head on over to check it out.  Tiffany Doodles is their sponsor this round.

Thanks for popping by!  Love to hear what you think.

Last card as Guest Designer at Deedee Digis

Here's my last card as Guest Designer for Deedee Digis for March.  Such a pretty image.  This set includes the flower image, the single dragonfly and 3 sentiments.

I used Daffodil as my base with some Basic Grey Sugared designer paper.  After coloring the image with my Copics, I shaded inside the die with daffodil to create a mock border.  Sponged the edges of the other two panels with Daffodil and finished with a pretty yellow ribbon.

Thanks Deedee, Sandy and the rest of the design team at Deedee Digis for making me feel so at home.  I'm sure I'll be back to shop your store again in the near future.
Thanks for stopping by.

Time to Bloom Blog Hop with Deedee's Digis !

I don't know about you, but I can't wait for SPRING!  We've been having a couple of nice toasty days here in Illinois, but could sure use the beautiful colors of Spring to cheer me up a bit.  Can't wait until my crocus' and daffodils emerge.  I need to see what I have (forgetting from year to year) in the ground now before I buy some more to plant this fall.
In order to hurry Spring along a little, Deedee's Digis has come up with some lovely spring themed digital images.  To celebrate, Deedee's Digis Design Team is hosting a

Time to Bloom Blog Hop

If this is your first stop along the Hop, please be sure to visit Crafting with Deedee's Digis for the directions for participating in this Blog Hop ... A chance to win the GRAND PRIZE, a $15 gift voucher for the Deedee's Digis store - as well as a little gift for you ... hmmm.
For my contribution, I took this brand new image from Deedee's and colored it with Copics.  I left the flower hanging off the edge using the 'out of the box' technique.  I found this designer paper at the LSS last week & had to have it - wasn't sure at the time what I'd use it for ... but as soon as I saw this image, I knew - The butterflies were calling my name.  I used a coordinating piece of designer paper to wrap the plum ribbon around it.  The sentiment is from the same kit as the butterfly, A Time to Bloom.

Before you leave, make sure you leave a comment here in order to be eligible for a chance to win a $5.00 gift voucher from the Deedee's Digi store!  You'll have until Sunday, March 20th at 12-noon, Eastern Time to leave a comment.  I will choose a random winner than and notify Deedee's Digis.  Be sure to check back to see if you've won.

Your next stop along this Time to Bloom Hop is Darsie.  Make sure you check out her fabulous creation!
Thanks for hopping in for a look see!

Guest Designer week 3 at Deedee Digis

Just sitting here wishing that the cold weather would just Go Away so I could see some pretty crocus' and daffodils popping up.  So tired of the drab winter brown, so I thought I'd make my own flowers with Deedee's Cup of Joy.  For more of her lovely digital images, check Deedee's Digi Store here.

Purples and greens are my favorite color combination ... The DP is from Paper Trey's GuideLines pack and Stampin Up is the word dp.  I'm loving this 'out of the box technique, too ... Carefully either cut around your oval (I used a Creative Memories cutting oval here) or trace & then cut, leaving the parts outside the oval to be cut with an exacto so they spill over the edges.

I added a crocheted flower from Stampin Up that I airbrushed with Copic V12 then tied on a green button with some floss.  The printed dp and green panel were both distressed before sponging with Tea Dye to give it an aged look.  I wanted to see how a whimsically drawn image and vintage techniques looked - I like it, what do you think?

Remember to check out Deedee's store for lots more digital images!
This Friday, Deedee's will be having a BLOG HOP ... Be sure to check it out here ...

Thanks so much for stopping in.

The Stamping Boutique Challenge #2

Time for another challenge over at The Stamping Boutique starts today and runs for 2 weeks.  This challenge will be a sketch challenge based on this template.  Additionally, because St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner, try to incorporate the color green.

For my example, I used one of Tracey's newest images, Easter Cupcake.  I went non traditional green and reached for Green Galore.  I love this image - reminds me of when I was a young'un and would eat a whole package of Peeps on Easter and be sick as a dog by the time we got home from church.  Ugh!  Nowadays, I can't even fathom popping one of these into my mouth, lol.  I DO love them on paper, tho.

I flipped the sketch to make my card horizontal and kept it fairly simple.  The designer paper is from Basic Grey's Lemonade paper pack with rose red and green galore as my mats.  The 'flowers' are brads that went perfectly with the designer paper.  The sentiment is from one of the Stampendous Changito Monkey sets - think it's the Hoppy Easter one (no duh?).

Hope you're inspired to try one out for yourself.  Head on over to The Stamping Boutique's storefront to see what else Tracey has in stock.  Your card doesn't have to be Easter themed, but try to keep the sketch and the color green somehow incorporated into your challenge card then link it up at the Stamping Boutique's challenge blog.

Have a FABulous day!

Charisma Cardz 3/10/11 - Easel Does it

Today over at Charisma Cardz, the challenge is to create an easel card. I haven't made one of these in so long, this was a perfect challenge for me.  For such a striking card, I can't believe how easy they are ... You'll be seeing more of them around my 'house' for sure!

In the meantime, The Stamping Boutique is sponsoring Charisma's challenge, so I picked this adorable Irish Dancer to put on my card. (I also followed yesterday's Splitcoast Stampers sketch challenge.) She was colored with Copics, then airbrushed with the light green background before cutting her out with the round open scalloped Spellbinders die (can't think of the official name of the die right now, I'm sure you all know, lol). I tweaked her with some white gel and clear glitter gel pen then added some SU glittery gold brads.

For the panel on the inside of the card, I stamped "Celebrate" from one of the SU sentiment sets directly onto the SU designer paper, celery mat then garden green mat that was border punched with the fleur di lis design.

I'm actually very pleased with this one - Makes me want to be Irish, lol.

Thanks for popping in for a 'look-see' - head on over to Charisma Cardz to see what else they came up with.

Deedee Digis Amazing Love

Made another card today for Deedee Digi's. I fell in love with this simple image and sentiment the minute I saw it ... Thought it would make the PERFECT Easter card. I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out.

The image was colored with Copics, including airbrushing the sun. I sponged a few clouds using bashful blue and a stencil I made. Today's color challenge at Splitcoast Stampers is Pear Pizazz, Concord Grape and Bashful blue. I have a Stampin Up designer paper matted on the concord. The brads are significant in their shape and number - anyone? Finished off with a purple organdy ribbon and a 'faith' ribbon slide. The card measures 4x6.

(Can I say I'm seriously thinking about the big boy compressor? I need to play more with the starter set I got from iCopic to see if I'd utilize the big one, tho. I think that money tree has done shriveled up in my backyard, dang it!)

Thanks for stopping by in your travels! Leave a comment to let me know what you think.
1st one guessing my thoughts behind the brads, I'll send you this card if you'd like.

Tiffany Doodles Blog Hop Winner is ...

CONGRATULATIONS go to ...

Moments by Marla

Random winner of the Petals Up digital image from Tiffany Doodles
offered during our March Spring Blog Hop.

Marla, please email me at ... bunefoo (at) yahoo (dot) com

so I can send you the image.  Once you see it, you'll appreciate that the coloring isn't quite as difficult as it may seem looking at the finished product.  Looks great in Copics or Prismas/Gamsol.

The theme of the challenge this week at Stamps R Us is "In the Kitchen", and it's sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps.  Jodie has some fun, whimsical images as well as pertinent sentiments that are just as fun.   I couldn't decide which to choose from, so I made 2 cards.

For this first one, I used JJ's Cook image, which comes with the sentiment used here.  I colored her with Copics and added some glossy accents to the wine glass and her spectacles. I found this great digital paper at Bearly Mine Designs. I couldn't believe the selection of wonderful digital papers she has - and I didn't finish looking. Anyway ... I loved this cherry paper on top of the red gingham. So 'kitchen-y'. I added a ribbon and some rhinestones to finish things off.

My second card was made with Bugaboo's Crabby Cathy's Dishes image.  If this isn't the truth, I don't know what is.  Everyone wants to lounge around the table after dinner here at my house talking about their day until I get up to clean up, then everyone all of a sudden has chores or a phone call to return or a facebook account to check, lol.  I colored her with Copics and added some glossy accents to the bubbles and water drip.  I colored the pearls with E08 Copic to match the layout.  Finished with some brown bakers twine.

Head on over to Stamps R Us to see more details on the challenge - it runs for 2 weeks, so get your card in by March 21st to be eligible for a randomly drawn prize, courtesy of Bugaboo Stamps.

Thanks for stopping by!

Fun card for The Stamping Boutique "Blog Hop of Sorts"

This past weekend, The Stamping Boutique tried something new - instead of a Blog Hop where you hop along to each Design Team's site to take a gander at their work, we had all the DT members post a picture (anonymously) using something from The Stamping Boutique's Circus Line.  Everyone got to vote on their preferred card.

Now that the "Hop" is over, I can post this card and tell you it's mine, all mine, lol ...

I used 2 images, the Elephant and the Lion in the Circus Train cars.  Both were colored with Copics and highlighted with white gel pen.  I added some Stickles to the stars on the wheels and the circles on the elephant's car as well as to the sparkles dusted across the images.  The sentiment is computer generated.  For a gal who's not super-keen on orange (um, me?), I thought it went perfect with this circus theme, and I'm proud of what I created.  Finishing touches include the punched corners, 3-colored brads in the corners, embossed butterflies from SU's embosslits that I dotted with Stickles, and a strip of Olive grosgrain ribbon.

If you get a chance, head on over to The Stamping Boutique's Challenge Blog to see what the rest of the designers came up with - AND to see who won!

**amended**
Now that the winner's been chosen (you'll have to go check it out) - Yay, Heide, I voted for your card! ...
and I can post my photo, I'm also submitting this for the challenge over at Sandy's Space ... Challenge #3 - Be inspired by the jungle themed photo (which is cute in and of itself!) ... Check it out!

Thanks for another fly-by - Always look forward to your comments.

TIffany Doodle March Challenge TD10

Check out Tiffany Doodles' blog for this month's challenge which runs today through the 21st. For a look at some of the lovely images that can be found in  Tiffany's Store just click here.

This month, Tiffany challenged us to be inspired by this photograph from The Pottery Barn.  Take it in any direction you choose, just be inspired by the photograph.

For my card, I chose Tiffany's Lenten Rose.  She has 2 images - this one and one that's already surrounded by an oval that fits the Spellbinders dies.  I colored this beautiful rose with my Copics and matted on grey.  I wanted the pretty pinks to shine, so I didn't want to add any 'real' colors.  The dp was cut diagonally and  matted on grey then run through the Wallpaper SU embossing folder.  The sentiment is from Design Delights.  Cardstock used was blush blossom and basic grey.  Finishing touched include the rose flourishes, half pearls and the pretty satin ribbon.

Remember, you have until March 21st for this challenge.  Simply go to the Tiffany Doodles blog and link your card at the bottom of March 7th's entry.  Winner's will be determined after March 21st.

The Prizes!
$10 gift certificate for Tiffany Doodles for the winner
(using a Tiffany Doodles digi image)

$5 gift certificate for Tiffany Doodles for the runner up
(no matter what stamp/image is used)

Make sure you hit Tiffany Doodles and take a gander at what she has to offer - you'll love what you see.

In the meantime, check out the other Design Team Members to see what they came up with if you need a little inspiration.

As always, Thanks for stopping by!

The Stamping Boutique March Blog Hop - of sorts

(For Tiffany Doodles blog hop 3/4-3/6, go to yesterday's post, please)

Are you up for a different kind of Blog Hop? How about "hopping" without having to go anywhere?

Instead of hopping from one Design Team's blog to another ... this month, The Stamping Boutique Challenge blog is going to post all the Design Team cards on their main site. Just click on This Link

We're changing things up a bit - this time YOU'LL be voting for your favorite creation. None of the Design Team members have put their watermark on the photos, so you can't tell who designed them (or can you?) We haven't even seen each others, so it's top secret even for us.  This One-Stop-Hop runs from midnight, March 4th through Sunday at midnite. Make sure to vote by then - winner will be announced shortly after.

There will be a random draw for some Free Stamping Boutique images based on your comments, so make sure to leave one!

Make sure you head on over to The Stamping Boutique's Challenge blog ... I'm dying to know what you guys think of this twist!  If you get a chance, sneak back over here and tell me what you think.

The Stamping Boutique Spring cards

Had a chance to play around with m stamping goodies this afternoon and came up with 3 cards ...

This first one is 2 images morphed into one - AJ and the stone wall ... Yes, I could have popped him up for dimension, but I wanted to layer the image into one for practice.  He was colored with Copics.  (I have to either start writing numbers down or take a picture of them laying around the drawing table one of these days.)  I couldn't find a sentiment that worked (Go figure, lol), so I used my computer to create this one.  Because the print on the designer paper is so large, I wanted that to show through, so I kept my layers to a minimum.

This next card is also a digital image from The Stamping Boutique - Rabbit in Egg.  She was colored with Copics as well.  I used saffron and lavendar for the base and mats as well as the flourishes from Sizzix.  Finished with some crocheted trim and lavendar ribbon as well as some pretty purple pearls.

This last one is the Dragon from The Stamping Boutique, colored with Copics again.  Can you tell I'm thinking SPRING?  lol ... Computer generated this one, too ... Even Dragon's look forward to the miracle of spring!  I used suede, chocoalte and garden green for the various layers.  I added a vanilla strip punched with the scalloped border layered underneath the Basic Grey designer paper.  To finish off, I took my clear glitter gel pen and doodled the faux brads on the scalloped border as well as the image panel and larger sentiment panel.

Thanks for popping in.  What do you think about any of these cards or any others you've seen here?

Tiffany Doodles Spring Blog Hop

Okay, so what do we have to do to get Spring's pretty little tail-feathers to show?

I say BLOG HOP!
Anyone else game?

Today is the start of a 3-day Blog Hop at Tiffany Doodles starring ... Tiffany's Design Team.
Each Team member will be giving away an image from the delectable Tiffany Doodles portfolio, so make sure to check them all out, become Followers and leave a little sugar in order to be eligible for the random drawing for each Design Team member.

In addition, there is going to be a Grand Prize given away at the Tiffany Doodles Blog - a $10 gift certificate to Tiffany Doodles' store. To be eligible for the Grand Prize, you'll have to become a follower (if you're not already) and leave comments along the way and don't forget to stop at the Tiffany Doodles blog at the end of the Bunny Trail to let her know you've completed the hop.
For my image giveaway, I've chosen the Petals Up image.  It's a lovely Daisy-type flower soaking up the sun.

I used the same image on my card, but I added another, flipped it for mirror image and made it slightly smaller so it'd look like it was on it's way to being a bouquet.  I colored the image with Copics (V91,93,95,YG11,63,67,B10, Y00) and used Nesties and punches for the mats.  The image is cut 'out of the box' so the flower tips hang over the edge of the circle.  The designer paper is new from Stampin Up.  To finish off, I added some lavendar pearls, eyelets and a pretty organdy bow.

Also, our regularly scheduled Tiffany Doodles Card Challenge will be back on March 7th like clockwork. This challenge lasts for 2 weeks, so you've plenty of time to whip something up. Tiffany is one of the 'best-est' at giving away prizes!

Tiffany has such fabulous art in her store, that you're sure to find a bunch of images that suit you, and she's always coming out with more.

Happy Designing!

In the meantime, here's another card I whipped up this afternoon - have had this image colored for several days, but just now found inspiration in the poem - don't laugh - I have a picture up in my bathroom with the same verse from Emerson - "Aha" moment, lol.  Okay, it's alright for ME to laugh at me.

I colored the image with Copics and wanted to keep the grass fairly bright, so I used soft pink and greens as a backdrop.

Have fun on the hop - Remember to be sure to comment!
