Paper ala Mode challenge at The Outlawz

This week over at The Outlawz, the challenge was "Fall is Here" - using fall colors or a fall theme.

I'm a bit early for Halloween, but that's what I always think of when I hear "Fall".  I chose one of Rick St. Dennis' images called "Grave 2" and colored it with Copics.

I used red and orange cardstock to go along with the colors.

Here's a close up of the image:

Feels good to get back into coloring ... can't wait to do more.

The Outlawz Challenge - TAG IT !

You can use a tag and add to it, make your own tag, incorporate a tag within your image or add on a tag with a sentiment - it's open for all.
This week, our sponsor is the wonderfully artistic Rick St. Dennis.  Please check out his Zibbet store HERE to see all the lovely images he has.  If you're in to creepy, he's got loads of wonderfully ghoulish images as well.

I chose to use his Cassiopea image.  Anyone who knows me won't be surprised how much I love his beautiful ladies.

I colored her with Copics and then distressed the edge with Vintage Photo ink.  I made the tag to fit my own dimensions (4x6 inches) and then rounded the top corners and punched a hole to hold the strands of bakers twine (brown/white that I ran through a red stamp pad).
I've added a distressed doily and a couple of more layers of papers as well.
I finished it off with some distressed roses, greenery and red seeds, then added a lovely silver charm.

Please check out The Outlawz Challenges - there's one for every day of the week, with new challenges every week.

Please also check out Rick St. Dennis' Facebook Page and
Rick St. Dennis Blog for more of his images.

Here is my DT inspiration piece for the Ching Chou Kuik Facebook page.
I used Lilies Commitment for this one and kept everything soft blue.  Her scales are a combination of lavender, blue and yellow.  I like the way it turned out.  All Copic markers here.
I added some shabby white frantage and distressed the edge.  While it doesn't show much, I flipped the lace up to look a bit like waves.

Hope you like it.

Ching Chou Kuik Inspiration Piece Scarlet Lips

This is my Design Team inspiration piece this week for Ching Chou Kuik's Facebook page.  I used Scarlet Lips ... I think the name is what made me choose the color of this beautiful mermaid.
She was colored with Copics.
I found some fun paper that looks like water droplets, added some crocheted ribbon, faux pearls and a spray of red seeds.

Hope you like it.
Make sure to check out Ching Chou's Etsy Page,

Kit and Clowder's Orlando Retreat

Oh my, did I have a FABULOUS time at the Kit and Clowder Orlando retreat, or what?  Only thing that would have made it better was sitting down with Alyce Keegan in my craft room for about a week (probably holding her hostage!).  She's such a wonderful lady, and so very talented.  It was hotter than blazes, I think near 100*, but not as humid as usual.  Got a little bit of swim/sun time on the first day and the last day I was there.  Can't wait to go back!

If you get a chance, you HAVE to check out Kit and Clowder's coloring classes.  Alyce offers both markers (she gives substitutions for those of you that don't use Copics like me) as well as her new pencil classes.  She also has new classes that you can subscribe to where you get a new class every month - both in markers, and pencils, separately.  Once I have a bit more down time, I'm certainly going to sign up for those as well ...

These are the three projects we created while at the retreat:
This first one is a frame that we used all kinds of mixed media on.  I've dabbled a bit in mixed media in my art journals, but this was so much fun, using Lindy's sprays and stencils.  The image is from Saturated Canary called Dew Drop Fairy.  I colored her with Copics and then distressed the edges so it would be a bit smaller than the frame opening.  I also added some Shabby white frontage.  I just LOVE the way it turned out.

This next one is a card made using a LaLa Land image called Heart Cupcake Marci.  I colored her with Copics and did all kinds of distressing.  Isn't she cute?

This last card is made using Polkadoodles' Octavia Rose.  Again, Copics, distressing and some lace.  Isn't she pretty?

Hope you enjoy.  Anyone interested in starting a Go Fund Me account for Alyce to come back over here from Australia?  Or maybe send me OVER to Australia - yeah, that sounds like a better treat, lol.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Ching Chou Kuik's The Ponderer

This beautiful young lady is called  Ponderer and she's a digital image from Ching Chou Kuik.  You can find her HERE, and can check out all the other lovely images from Ching Chou in her ETSY SHOP HERE.

This card was made as my Facebook Design Team Inspiration piece for this week.

I colored her with Copics and then added a touch of Stickles diamonds to the butterfly top wings.  I distressed the edges with Ranger Vintage Photo, as well as the designer paper.  After I put the pretty wedding lace in place, I used the diamond Stickles again to help anchor the lace and add a bit of sparkle to it.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  They are fabulous!

I hope you have a chance to check out Ching Chou Kuik's Facebook page for lots more inspiration and to see what the other design team members have created this week.  Don't forget to check out the Ching Chou Kuik blog as well.

Have a blessed day!

Ching Chou Kuik's Girl in Spring

Here is my Facebook DT inspiration piece for this week (thanks, Felisha, for switching days with me).

This is Girl in Spring, and she can be found in Ching Chou Kuik's Etsy Shop.
I colored her with Copics and added some diamond Stickles to the butterfly's wings.
I fussy cut the top portion and left the bottom rectangular.
I distressed the digital paper as well as the rectangle portion of the image panel.
The image panel was popped up on dimensionals over a pretty spring green ribbon/bow.
Finishing touches were the distressed flowers from Wild Orchid and a pretty sparkler for the bow to tie in the peachy colors.

Hope you like it, and have a chance to check out Ching Chou's:

Little Red Wagon - Challenge 291: Red, White and Blue

This week, it's my turn to host the challenge over at
http://lilredwagon.blogspot.com/

I don't know what I was thinking, but when I picked the challenge, I was thinking Memorial Day was next weekend, lol ... Hence the Red, White and Blue - Oh well ...
When life gives you
Make ...

Anyway, here is my card for the Little Red Wagon's Challenge this week - with the theme geared towards THANKING all the service men and women out there!

The image is from Mo's Digital Pencil, called Waiting for the Parade.

I colored her with Copics and kept the background simple as I hope to mail this to a serviceman or woman as a thank you.

We'd love to see your contribution to the RED-WHITE-BLUE theme this week over at Little Red Wagon - it doesn't have to be patriotic themed.

Blessings,

Little Red Wagon Challenge 287 "B"lieve It!

This week, over at Little Red Wagon, Jan gave us the challenge to "B"-lieve It! ... use things that start with "B" ...
http://lilredwagon.blogspot.ca/

I chose one of the Rick St. Dennis' Randi Dandi images, called Brigitte, from I Brake for Stamps and colored her with Copics.

My "B"'s include the beads and buds.  This is my first time using beads on a card, so be gentle, lol.  I made some swirls using Glossy Accents and then sprinkled some turquoise seed beads over the top.  After popping up the image panel with dimensionals, I tucked some rosebuds in.

Here is a close up of the image:

Hope you were inspired to try something new, and get a chance to play along over at Little Red Wagon this week ... Remember, it can be anything starting with a "B" - beads, buds, bows, birds, bonnets, bluebells, boys .... the sky's the limit.

Blessings!

Ching Chou Kuik Facebook Inspiration

Here's my Facebook Design Team inspiration for Ching Chou Kuik, using Sweet and Fragrant.  She was a dream to color, but then again, they ALL are.

I colored her with Copics and used a combination of designer paper and digital designer paper, although the flowers are covering up most of the digi paper.  Flowers are from Wild Orchid.  Lace is from Martha Stewart.  The gemstone in the center was in with the pack of flowers.

Here's a close up of the image:

Hope you have a chance to visit Ching Chou's Etsy page where she has loads of beautiful images, or go to her Facebook page.  There's also the Ching Chou Kuik blog you can visit.  We'd like to see your images anywhere!

Blessings!

Happy Graduation, Meaghan!

I made this card for my niece who's graduating from college this week.  YAY!

I used one of Saturated Canary's digital images, Grad Girl 2012 (unfortunately, she's been retired) and colored her with Copics.
Just a couple of things added: paper doily, navy grosgrain ribbon and "Congrats" stamp (not sure who made it).

Here's a close up of the image:

Hope she enjoys it!

Have a wonderful day!

The Outlawz' Paper ala Mode challenge: Femme Fatale

This Saturday's challenge over at The Outlawz' Paper ala Mode challenge is "Femme Fatale" with Rick St. Dennis as our sponsor.

I chose this new image by Rick called Foscka ... Love how she turned out.  I wanted to keep most of the outside very faded and sepia inspired.

She was colored with Copics.  I used Stampin Up cardstock and some designer paper from my stash.  I then distressed the edges, then sponged the edges with Vintage Photo ink, then sewed the DP to the cardstock.  Finishing touches are some flowers from Wild Orchid that I also sponged with Vintage Photo, some brown pearls and a pretty satin brown ribbon.

Here's a close up:

Hope you have time to submit a card with the FEMME FATALE theme over at The Outlawz' Paper ala Mode Challenge this week!  Would love to see what you come up with.

Blessings,

Little Red Wagon - Challenge #286 - Seeing Spots

This week over at Little Red Wagon, Joanne has us seeing spots .... Spots, dots or blots.
http://lilredwagon.blogspot.com/

(After watching the Blackhawks beat the Predators last night in triple overtime, until 1:15 am, I feel like I'm seeing spots this early!)

Anyway ... I chose this adorable ladybug image from Bugaboo called Ladybug Stack - Lots of Spots on these little critters.
I colored this digital image with my Polychromos, then added Glossy accents to the spots, their noses and their antennae.  Then a little bit of diamond stickles for the flower bits.

Stampin Up cardstock in Saffron and Ballet blue with some digital paper with daisies on them.  Finished off with a strip of lace and a pretty saffron grosgrain knotted ribbon.

Here's a close up of the image:

Hope you like it.  Make sure to head over to Little Red Wagon and check out the challenge - would love to see what you can do with SPOTS - DOTS - BLOTS.

The Outlawz Paper ala Mode Some Old, Something New, Something Blue Challenge

This week over at The Outlawz' Paper ala Mode challenge, the theme is "Something Old, Something New, Something Blue", and our sponsor is Sassy Studio Designs.

Here is my design team inspiration piece:

I chose to use the Aquarius Portrait image and colored her hair with blue green Copics.  The cardstock is from Stampin Up (tempting turquoise and pacific point).  I used some designer papers I've had for ages that look like water.  At the split, I added a sheer polka dot ribbon and some lace upside down (to simulate wave action).  I added a couple of dies in the same cardstock colors and some glossy accents to the image panel to simulate bubbles.

Here's a close up of the image:

I hope you like her and have a chance to head over to The Outlawz and play along with our SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING BLUE challenge and see what the other lovely design team members came up with.  Remember, there are challenges at The Outlawz for every day of the week.

Have a wonderfully blessed week!

Little Red Wagon #285 Challenge - Travelogue

This week over at Little Red Wagon, Heather has challenged us to make a project with the theme "Travelogue" - make a project that is inspired by another country, whether it's where you've travelled or wish to travel in the future, or just are inspired by another country.
http://lilredwagon.blogspot.com/

My first thought was Paris, I don't know why ... but I got this beautiful digital paper from Blossom Paper Art on Etsy.  That was my first step.  Usually I'll pick the image first and let it speak to me - this time, I went the other way around.  I chose this gorgeous image from A Day For Daisies called Tiny Fashionable Present (recognize the wrapping? I'm sure Paris has a Tiffany's, no?)

I colored her with Copics and used my handy dandy Creative Memories oval cutting system because the other oval dies just didn't fit her.  I sponged the edges of all the layers with SU's melon mambo and used melon mambo and saffron cardstock.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, as is the pretty oval beaded embellishment.  The center flower is from one of their build a flower kits.  I added some diamond Stickles to the brad and pushed down a pearl so the sparkle would show around the edges.  This beautiful satin polka dot ribbon finished off the card.

Here's a close up of the colored image.
I hope you like my contribution to the Travelogue challenge over at Little Red Wagon and have a chance to head over there to see all the other design team members' projects, as well as have a chance to play along yourself.

Have a wonderful day!
Blessings,

Tears in Wind by Ching Chou Kuik

Here is my Facebook DT inspiration piece for this week ...

She's called Tears in Wind, and can be found in Ching Chou Kuik's Etsy Shop.
I colored this beauty with Copics and used dark blue streaks for the background, then came in with a BG000 to fade and muddle the sky.
The DP's are a combination of digital and regular designer papers.  For the circled paper, I added some diamond Stickles to a few of the dots randomly, as I did for the 'pearls' in her hair.
I sponged the doily with some SU wisteria ink, as I did the edges of the DP and the image panel.
Finally, I added some pretty flowers and leaves from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Here's a close up of the image:
Hope you enjoy her, and have a chance to check out both the Ching Chou Kuik Facebook page, as well as the Ching Chou Kuik blog for more beautiful samples and some fun challenges.

Ching Chou Kuik Facebook inspiration

Here is my Ching Chou Kuik Facebook DT inspiration piece for this week, using Purple Iris.

I love the color combination of purples and blue-greens/teals, so I kept her in purple and decorated all the rest with the blue-greens.  All papers are digital.  I added some diamond Stickles to the image and overlapping off the edge.  I sponged the edge of the purple circled ribbon with turquoise.

Here's a close up of the image itself:

Head over to Ching Chou Kuik's Facebook page to see more delightfully colored images, as well as the Ching Chou Kuik blog.

Have a wonderful day!
