Kit and Clowder's Orlando Retreat

Oh my, did I have a FABULOUS time at the Kit and Clowder Orlando retreat, or what?  Only thing that would have made it better was sitting down with Alyce Keegan in my craft room for about a week (probably holding her hostage!).  She's such a wonderful lady, and so very talented.  It was hotter than blazes, I think near 100*, but not as humid as usual.  Got a little bit of swim/sun time on the first day and the last day I was there.  Can't wait to go back!

If you get a chance, you HAVE to check out Kit and Clowder's coloring classes.  Alyce offers both markers (she gives substitutions for those of you that don't use Copics like me) as well as her new pencil classes.  She also has new classes that you can subscribe to where you get a new class every month - both in markers, and pencils, separately.  Once I have a bit more down time, I'm certainly going to sign up for those as well ...

These are the three projects we created while at the retreat:

This first one is a frame that we used all kinds of mixed media on.  I've dabbled a bit in mixed media in my art journals, but this was so much fun, using Lindy's sprays and stencils.  The image is from Saturated Canary called Dew Drop Fairy.  I colored her with Copics and then distressed the edges so it would be a bit smaller than the frame opening.  I also added some Shabby white frontage.  I just LOVE the way it turned out.

This next one is a card made using a LaLa Land image called Heart Cupcake Marci.  I colored her with Copics and did all kinds of distressing.  Isn't she cute?

This last card is made using Polkadoodles' Octavia Rose.  Again, Copics, distressing and some lace.  Isn't she pretty?

Happy Graduation, Meaghan!

I made this card for my niece who's graduating from college this week.  YAY!

I used one of Saturated Canary's digital images, Grad Girl 2012 (unfortunately, she's been retired) and colored her with Copics.

 

Just a couple of things added: paper doily, navy grosgrain ribbon and "Congrats" stamp (not sure who made it).

Little Red Wagon Challenge 283 "Call the Vet"

This week over at Little Red Wagon, Susie's theme is "Call the Vet" ... use an animal or animal print.

 

I'm in need of an Easter card, so I used this Saturated Canary image (Easter Dress) that included a cute little bunny.  The image was colored with Copics.  I added some crocheted lace and yellow ribbon, then some flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Little Red Wagon Challenge - Ribbon, Twine or String

This week over at Little Red Wagon, Tracy has us "All Tied Up" ... in other words, use ribbon, twine or bows on your projects ... As always, it's ANYTHING GOES otherwise.

I used this adorable image from Saturated Canary called Book Club, because I love to read, read, read.

I colored her with Copics.

The background paper is a script digital paper.

I used both twine wrapped around the layer, as well as a ribbon/bow.

Some pretty floral embellishments from Wild Orchid Crafts to finish it off.

Saturated Canary Color Challenge #2, ends 3/28

Krista Smith, master artiste and owner of Saturated Canary is having a new coloring challenge using one of two new images, Beach Ink or Beach Pretty ... AANNNDDDD of course I had to buy both of them.  There's a limit of two for this challenge.    NOTE:  This color challenge ENDS on 3/28/15 !!!

There will be four finalists chosen according to the challenge rules found on Saturated Canary Blog here, and they will be able to provide input to Krista on her designing of a new image - HOW FUN IS THAT?!

 

This is my second entry is using "Beach Ink"

I LOVE that she has dreads 

She was also colored with Copics.  The DP is digi paper, matted with Stampin Up cardstock.  Cream crocheted lace with kiwi grosgrain ribbon used on the angled piece.

I used a butterfly die from Memory Box for the pop of a different color.

I have no idea where I got the "Hello" stamp from - it's a clear stamp sitting on a plastic page with a bunch of others, so I apologize for not being able to give credit.

I sponged the edges of all pieces with SU's Kiwi ink.

 

I love this one - she' so SASSY!

The DP is a digi paper I added some digital brush marks to.

The image has her towel hanging over the edge of the oval cut, and I used

my newest Spellbinders oval die behind her.  That lace is from a wedding store I got a while back - love it, so use it very sparingly.

Challenge #277 at The Little Red Wagon - Round and Round We Go

This week's challenge over at The Little Red Wagon is "Round and Round We Go" ... in other words, use circles, ovals, anything but a 90* right angle on your project.

I chose this adorable image from Saturated Canary, it's part of the Dad 2014 image, which has been retired.

I used my Creative Memories cutting system to cut the card on a fold and layer the next 2 pieces (DP is digital paper).  I used a doily that was sponged with Marina Mist (SU) and then cut the image out with my spellbinders circle with a scalloped mat.  The heart dies are from Memory Box.

In my case, I took everything literal with regard to "round" with the exception of the hearts.

Little Red Wagon's Winter Washi Challenge

Alright, am I the last hold out for Washi Tape?  I don't own a roll.  Well, this week, it's Winter Washi week over at The Little Red Wagon's challenge page.

Back when I was doing some art journaling, I made some 'washi tape' that was made with cloth bandage tape and stamped all over, but I had a Valentine's card in mind - here in Chicago, it's still winter when Valentine's Day comes around - and none of those worked.  So ... I pulled out my "Tape It" stamp set from Stampin Up and proceeded to make some background paper using the stamps, as well as strips for the top of the card.

I colored this image from Saturated Canary, found in the Valentine's Bundle,

with Copics.

Cardstock used was Stampin Up's tempting turquoise and pretty in pink

(along with inks, including rose red).

I used a heart doily that I sponged in rose red.  The teal square is digital paper, as well as the pink checkerboard piece.  The hearts were cut with the Stampin Up embosslit scalloped heart and then sponged over with rose red.

 

From the looks of it, it's kind of simple,

but this was a bit labor intensive, hope you like it.

Peek A Boo - I See You

This week's challenge over at The Little Red Wagon is "Peek A Boo" - in other words, use a window.

I chose this image from Saturated Canary called Sweet Oklahoma ... Because I'm from Chicago, the Windy City, I'm going to call it Sweet Home Chicago.

I colored her up with Copics and then hand cut a window frame as if you're looking outside seeing how windy it is.

Papers are, as usual, digital papers with Stampin Up cardstock (Not Quite Navy,  Marina Mist and Rose Red.  I added a pink grosgrain ribbon and some pretty pink pearls to finish it off.

Cupie Fairy takes a ride in The Little Red Wagon

It's that day of the week again - Wednesday is The Little Red Wagon's Challenge release day! 

This week, the challenge was to beat those Winter Blues - in other words, use mostly BLUE on your project.  As for images, as usual, it's anything goes.

Just got this adorable digital image from Saturated Canary called Cupie Arrows, and colored her up with Copics.

This little darling was so easy to color up, she seemed to tell me along the way

what colors to use.  I just love her.  The sentiment, by the way, is included with the image, along with another sentiment and a target.

 

Papers are digitals with Stampin Up cardstock for the bases.

Challenge #273 at Little Red Wagon

Well, today's challenge over at Little Red Wagon is hosted by Jan ... Her theme this week is "Shhhhhhh!" ... Don't use any words or text on the project you create.

That's not hard for me .. I usually like to leave my cards without a sentiment until I decide who and what they're for.  This week, I chose one of Saturated Canary's new images from the Valentine's Bundle (that's 5 digital images for only $10 ... pretty good price if you ask me).  This image is called "Groovy Love" ... note the glasses.  Based on the title of the image, I wanted to go a little bright and funky with the colors, so I chose bright pinks and purples ...

 

If you'll also notice, I chose black hair again ... I'm struggling to get it just right, so I may have to head back to the classroom at Kit and Clowder, but this is a heck of a lot better than what you won't see.  I was a bit miffed at first, so I added some white highlights with my Gelli Roll ... ARGH ... huge mistake ...

Thought about it all night, and yes, even dreamed about it,

only the highlights were bright pink.

Well, this morning I came downstairs and tried - never have before -

a Wet One and it swooped the gel pen right away - HURRAY!!!!

After that, I tweaked the hair a bit more, and was much more pleased with the results that you actually see here. 

 

To dress up the card, I used some digital papers and Stampin Up cardstock in eggplant and Pretty in Pink (I think).  I added a sponged paper doily and used a new die I got from Elizabeth Craft Designs for the flower layers.  Finished off with some pearls and called it a day ...

Little Red Wagon's Frosty Challenge

 This week over at The Little Red Wagon Challenge, the theme is "Frosty" - create a project with a snow theme - use your imagination.

This week, I used a beautiful image from Saturated Canary.  This image is called Coffee Run, and it can be found in the New Year's 2015 Special Bundle Set of 5 luscious images for only $10 ... HOLY COW, what a deal!

The image was colored with Copics.

I then added some Stampendous Shabby White embossing enamel

to give a bit of snow flurries around her before distressing the edges.

 

Papers are digital from Bearly Mine Design (no longer in business)

and Grevic from Etsy. 

The snowflakes were cute with the Silhouette Cameo in a border,

cut apart and distressed.  The frame was also cut with the Silhouette.

Forever Girlzzz Shake if Off !

Here's yet another digital image from Krista at Saturated Canary.  This is called Forever Girlzzz, and they're from the New Year's 2015 Special Bundle set of 5 images.

 

I colored these with Copics and used digital papers from Quakasu on Etsy (pink background is Vintage Garden 2) and the purple papers are digitals from Bearly Mine Designs (no longer in business).  The pink die is from Spellbinders/Little Darlings called "Lovely View" and the corner (cut from purple dotted paper) is from La La Land.  I added the computer generated sentiment, a knotted grosgrain ribbon and a couple of pearls.  The glasses have glossy accents on them ... in hindsight, I wish I had left it off, but it is what it is ...

Just a Note from May

Another gorgeous digital image from Krista at Saturated Canary.  This image is called May and she's part of a bundle from the New Year's 2015 Special Bundle set of 5 images. 

 

She was colored with Copics.  I distressed the edges of all the layers.  The background is paper from Michele R Designs (blue check) and the mini dots is from Bearly Mine Designs (closed their doors 12/31/14 due to the European VAT laws).  I added a strip of lace and a flourish.  The sentiment is from Paper Trey.

Dance to Your Own Tune

Here is another wonderful digital image called Tunes from Saturated Canary's New Year's 2015 Special Bundle. 

 

I colored him with Copics and used some digital papers from Grepic (Etsy) with a burlap look.  I punched some banner flags in coordinating papers and popped them up on dimensionals.

Shine Bright Like a Diamond

Gorgeous new Saturated Canary image just released called Daydreams, and can be found in the New Year's 2015 Special Bundle.

 

I colored her with Copics and used Stampin Up's Pretty in Pink and Rose Red cardstock.  The papers are digital, not sure at the moment who from.  Dies are from La La Land (heart corner) and spellbinders (label, I cut the one end off to simulate a bell pull).  Sentiment is computer generated.
