While I did a card yesterday, I forgot to post it, so here goes ... another super-simple one ... when I saw the prompts, 'galaxy' immediately reminded me of the Star Wars intro ...

Something short and sweet - and fun to do in just a few minutes ...

ICAD 2014

 

Index Card a Day for 60 days starting June 1 - July 31st.  Check out  Daisy Yellow Art's ICAD information to find out more about it ... all it takes is 60 3x5 index cards and a little ingenuity.

I started off simple ... this one took me all of 15 minutes ... and most of that was searching online for a Haiku poem about spring ... Suffice it to say that those out there that write Haiku poems (5-7-5 syllable style) have nothing to worry about as far as me taking over, haha.

I started this off with a light yellow acrylic base then stenciled around the edges with a darker yellow over a stencil I made with my Silhouette.  I then took some acrylic paint and loosely painted a branch with some buds before adding the poem.  VOILA!

I think for my next card I might double up the index cards ... either I got a very cheap brand, they're making them thinner, or after applying media they just get plain soft.

I've been Missing in Action

Oh my, has it been THAT long?

Well, last summer, I graduated from Nursing School, took the Boards and passed after only 75 questions - YAY ... Now officially a Registered Nurse.

Put off job hunting til we got the munchkin off to college.  Boy was that tough - for her, and maybe even more for Mom & Dad ... She had a tough first few weeks, we weren't sure if we'd end up having to go pick her up & bring her home, but she toughed it out - I knew she could do it!

I started classes for the BSN in October, so have been busy with that, visiting the munchkin down at school twice for the holidays, then having her home for winter break, then back into BSN classes (estimated graduation of May 2015).

Munch is home for the summer, already has a job, so I guess I don't have any more excuses but to get that resume in order & start pounding the pavement, right?

Better said than done ... This winter I found two new loves that have occupied what spare time I have - ceramics and art journaling.

I still love my cards, and am itching to get back into that ... I finally set up two stations here in my basement/craftroom so that I can have one dedicated to art journaling and one for stamping cards & such.  The ceramics I have to venture out to do ... that is until I get myself a wheel and a kiln - no, that's not going to happen!  (Scott says "Thank God for small favors!", lol).  I've been to a couple of Color Me Mine stores for painting, but my truest favorite is Thrown Elements in Arlington Heights ... They have it ALL!  There have been a couple of days where I've spent nearly a whole day painting.  It's like therapy for me, and much cheaper than a psychologist would cost.  And the staff there is truly amazing - I've only been going there for a few months, and I feel like it's been years.  They're all so amazing and helpful, 'specially Rosie, Christa and Ed - AMAZING peeps!

So ... I will probably be posting some pictures of my ceramic creations and some of my art journals here as well ... If you see them, please be gentle on the art journals ... I've only been doing that since April.  I'll be the first one to say some of them are crap, but they got me trying techniques I'd forgotten about and new ones I didn't even know about ...

So, hope to see some of my ol' buds around the neighborhood ...

Coming into my last semester as a Nursing Student ... Been uber busy of late & haven't made a card in what seems like a lifetime ... Argh! Going through withdrawal.

Here's a cute card I made using one of Tiffany's Ice Cream Tree images.

As you can see, I printed the same image on 2 different designer papers for a whimsical ice cream cone. I then shaded with W1-3 Copics for a bit more dimension. These were layered and popped up for dimension. The ribbon is supposed to simulate the pretty package, and the sentiment was computer generated. Click on this Ice Cream Tree link to see all (5) images that are in the set.

Blog Hop Coming up for Tiffany Doodles

Going Through Withdrawal!

Oh My!  Haven't made a card in weeks.  I use card-making and scrabbooking as a release or soother, so can you image my stress level of late when I haven't had the chance to take it down a notch?  Well, this semester of Nursing School is over, so on to the next bit ... see if I can't manage graduating college at the same time my darling daughter graduates from High School.  It's a race, and it's ON!

Had a chance this weekend to do some coloring, so made up some cards using some of Tiffany Doodles' new designs, but forgot I can't post them until the release date.  In the meantime, head over to Tiffany's to see her latest releases, and keep an eye open here to find out when the new lovlies come out!

Leaf Breast Cancer Behind - WT346 at SplitcoastStampers challenge

This month over at SplitcoastStampers, the http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/ways-use-f46/"> Ways to Use it Challenges are geared around October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so we're encouraged to use the color pink in our projects.  This week, the challenge is to use leaves. 

I took this digital image from Tiffany Doodles' Fall is Here set and digitally recolored them in various shades of pink before randomly scattering them around the edge of the 4x6 frame.  I also used one of Tiffany's sentiments from the Lipstick set (found under the Fashion line.)  Once the card was all put together, I added some diamond Stickles to the leaf veins for some sparkle.  I love, love, love the way this turned out ... and I'm not normally fond of all pink.

Here's another lovely from A Day For Daisies' October Club Kit

Here's yet another beauty from Tammy over at A Day For Daisies.  This is also from her October Club Kit which can be found here.

I chose the image of the Teacher and colored her and her student with Copics.  I sponged a cloudy sky in afterwards.

I did a little distressing, a little stitching, layered the labels with a Spellbinders die and an SU label punch, added some pearls and called it a day. 

Love these images ... coloring them always puts me in a mellow place.  Hope you like this card and give A Day for Daisies a chance if you haven't already.
